I can tell you he won't be had for 15 million, that's for certain :) Seriously, we're demanding silly money for our players and, while that might come to pass--35 million for Carroll--I doubt Wenger will pony up the significantly more than 20 million we're demanding for either Cabaye or Tiote.

As for talent, he's off the charts. He has a gun of a leg, true, but he won't score many goals. He is a hard-nosed defensive midfielder that is one of the best in the premiership. I can see why Wenger loves him. Our defense suffers when he's not in there. For example, I can guarantee you the result would have been different in the Chelsea game if he wasn't dinged up. Not saying we would have won, but we would have had a ton more possession, and who knows how the game would have fallen out.

So, yeah, your boys ain't getting him :D

We're through to the group stages of the Europa League now--huzzah!--and Vuckic has his first senior goal with the club. Good time and great experience for the young lads.

The bad news? We were just drawn away to Man U for our first game in the league cup. Ugh.

Hearing rumors of Yohan Cabaye to Arsenal.

EDIT: Hearing the rumors are false.

I am MASSIVELY disappointed today. I have to once again accuse Ashley of being a cheap bastard. You know how much outlay we had in the transfer window, all summer long until now? THREE MILLION POUNDS. That's it. That's all we spent, balanced against who we got rid of. That is unacceptable. Ryan Taylor went down last night in our Europa League match and is out a minimum of 4 months, and still we did nothing. This is ridiculous. We had a thin squad last year, even though it was a good squad, and we didn't have the Europa League to content with. We also have a good group draw, so chances are we'll advance to the knockout stages. We already have massive injuries (Tiote, both Ameobi's and now Taylor), and only two full-time strikers on the books not injured above the age of 17 (Campbell will be a star, but not yet). Inexcusable. Ashley is a cheapskate once again.

I love getting the point away at Everton today, especially with 4 of our 9 starters out injured. Still, Everton was robbed of a victory by the refs. Like I said, I'll take the point, but a nod of the head to the Toffees over this game.

Band. Wagon. Er.

That is all ;)
1) Why would you care when I started following a team? :)
2) I got on the wagon just after they lost 8-0 last season.
3) I stayed on the bandwagon after they sold their captain and arguably the best center forward in the game to Man U.
4) Go Gooners
5) Since no one pays attention to Sunderland, why should I? :)
6) And for there to be a bandwagon, wouldn't they have had to win something recently? :)
7) The Tuesday Club (Gooners) podcast is hilarious. Much like this board, they seem happier when they can complain about something.

How is rooting for Arsenal, who haven't won trophies in years, bandwagonning? If he were truly a bandwagon fan, there is one team that would be a perfect choice. Manchester City.

Arsenal play a Spanish-like form of football that is usually really exciting to watch, and isn't that what matters most?

Thanks! I love me some Balotelli so I would have followed City, if they weren't, you know, City.

When's the last time they weren't in Europe? Which is one of the very few teams most Americans new to soccer follow? Thanks for calling.

And, btw, I really don't care...I was just joshing.

All good man. The judges rule that you were just joshing, and we overracted. Like we should have. Premier league footy rules. Can you imagine how good Arsenal would be if they had kept RVP? Like would not have needed the 24 mil they got for him good.

:(

Yeah, but you had to cash in...or let him walk for nothing at the end of the season. That just wouldn't work.

It would be worth that much to compete for the Prem Leg top spot, Champ League title, etc, but I suppose RVP wanted out. And to Man U of all teams!

Man, that was an UGLY game. Accepting a point from a game against Reading, and having to be happy to have gotten that much, is just plain disgusting.

Unfortunately, I didn't think we'd win this one. 4 of our 5 back-line players were out, and we were playing Man U. The game was won very early because our defense had no organization on set pieces. Hard to throw blame on the patchwork unit--impossible to be prepared in a situation like that. Still, 2-0 after 15 minutes was rough. Yeah, we absolutely dominated the game from then until the middle of the second half, but we just couldn't get it in the net. Cisse should have earned a clear, CLEAR penalty, as he almost had the shirt pulled off him, but Webb wasn't in position to see. The linesman did make the perfect call on the controversial no-goal--it did not go over the line.

Overall, it wasn't our day, and it was Man U's. It sucks, but I can take some heart from that long spell of complete and utter dominance, moving forward.

:iwin: I thought it transcended relevance. And next year I will just get you what I always get you...

Nice! Next year, though, instead of that sparkling present I usually get, I want a fantasy roleplaying day as Harry Dean Stanton in Red Dawn. Dagnabit, I just want to be able to yell 'avenge me!' in a relevant fashion :D
