Joe Horn is a moron. I miss the good old days when the players would hand the ball to the ref and jog back to the sideline. Horn's antics were obviously planned and in my mind, he should be fined a game check to go to charity.

It is much the same in baseball. Barry Bonds is arguably the most complete baseball player in history yet he still watches every homerun as if it was the first he has ever hit.

I am a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals but I have problems with Albert Pujols. He stands there admiring his shots. I am not a Tony LaRussa fan, but I give him credit for calling Pujols out last year.

I am sick of all of the "Look at me" guys in sports.

I dont mind watching the baseball players stare as they hit one 500 feet. But planting a cell phone before the game just shows you are a ******* and should be worried about the game not what you are going to do when you score. Quan would never do something like that.

Joe Horn is 32 years old. I doubt he'll have many more chances to do this. The NFL should fine him, and make him clean up all the trash around their dome.:D

Who cares. The NFL is entertainment and I thought it was entertaining. If someone on the field does not like it then they will take a shot at him. The players will police themselves if they feel that anyone player is going over the line.

I don't care. It was entertaining.

I thought it was kind of stupid. I was like "what is he doing lifting up that padding?"

It didn't beat T. Owens's pom pom shake, that's for sure.

I wonder what other items they are going to come up with next... so far we have: a sharpie, pom poms and now a cell phone. Maybe next time Joe Horn can hide a tricycle under the padding and ride around on that after he scores.

Now, let's leave Barry out of this. Yes I'm a Giants fan.

I like touchdown celebrations.

I thought Gus Frerotte head-butting himself to the injured reserve list was one of the best NFL moments of all time.

No Fun League.

I for one thought it was great. It's entertainment, not religion. This is fun :)

I really enjoy things like this. The exchange between Emmitt and TO back in Dallas a few years ago over the Dallas star was great, I really would like to see more things like that. It'd make the game more fun. Now I don't mean going WWE or anything, but these antics make the game more fun IMO.

The baseball thing is interesting. Watch for a couple of seconds, but I hate guys who talk as they run down the line, taunt, etc.

You have to give Bonds some slack. That guy gets crap pitches, thrown at, you name it. 200 walks a season. And you never see him get upset at the pitchers walking him or pitching so far inside it is scary. That guy has more patience and tolerance than I could ever muster. I've even heard Bobby Valentine say Bonds walks TOO much (somehow getting on base is bad).

If I could hit it like that, I'd watch for a second or two also.

As for Horn.... He's always had a huge head on his shoulders. The guy drops more passes than there are numbers on his cell phone. He's a trash talker and above average receiver who thinks much more highly of himself than anybody else. I'll put up with the great one's (Bonds, Pujols, Owens, etc) because they back it up.

Gonna talk it, back it up and take your fine like a man. The next point is when he did it, NY was still in the game and it cost them 15 yards. This is why NO never quite makes it. Too many "me" players on the team.

I totally agree. Football = entertainment. That cell phone act by Horn was to me simply added entertainment. I think its kind of dumb, yet I was still entertained. Much like the sign C. Johnson flashed earlier in the day, or the infamous 'sharpie' incident. To me its obnoxious, yet its hilarious at the same time.

However, I do think that the NFL should be a little more cautious of who is planting things on the field...how did they let someone hide a cell in padding of the field goal post??? Thats a little sketchy if you ask me and definately a breach of security.

I personally like the tricycle idea that is funny. Whenever I see them do these things I am not entertained one bit, I just sit there and shake my head they look like idiots to me, but to each their own. Gus Ferotte was funny though.

NFL is supposed to = entertainment, however, this is not the XFL and it is not Pro Wrestling. It is football. The league needed to make a statement when TO used the sharpie - they didn't and now we have more morons doing more moronic stuff!

Whatever happened to doing your job?! Both TO and Joe Horn have brought "foreign objects" onto the field. They should have been flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct and fined. Unless the NFL decides to put a stop to this, someone is eventually going to get injured by someone's careless disregard for their teammates and opponents and their overwhelming desire to be the center of attention in a team sport.

Hey professional football players, Grow Up!

TO yes, but Horn had it hidden on the backside of the post, under a pad. Technically it was out of the field of play!:D

See you can't have it both ways you can't pump up the NFL as this marketing Goliath and have all the Bud Light commercials and the Cheerleaders and all the commercial activity and then tell players.

Hey that stuff is over the top....

Please!

It is over the top but it all is and there is no rolling the clock back now.

I agree with everything above.

Except that it was entertaining. It was a dumb idea.

Couldn't agree with you more. The irony of the ESPN Dan Patrick interview with Horn was that Michael Irvin was part of it. One of the all time look at me guys, drug usin, ho beatin, gangsta mentality ex jocks. Now Joe Horn knows what indiscretions can get you ultimately. Maybe they slid Michael in so Joe wouldn't be pissed at ESPN.

This problem can be ended if the NFL and the teams would simply suspended the player(s) involved in this crap with a one game suspension and loss of a game check. That could be at least a $50,000 or greater dollar fine. Take away their privilege to play the games and make their dough.

Suggestion

One way to retain spontaneity while minimizing showboating would be to ban anything obviously prescripted - like sharpies, cell phones and group choreography but permit celebrations if they appeared to be spontaneous and didn't involve obvious taunting.

I also think that if Horn doesn't receive a huge pay check from Sprint, Verizon, AT&T, Nextel and/or Altell - he should be fined $10,000 for stupidity.

I'm odd man out on this subject. I like the fun things some guys are doing. He wasn't pointing or getting in someones face like some of these players do. Cute, pulls out a phone and calls mom. Like signing a football and giving it to a fan, harmless fun. I think it's good for football, I wish some of our guys would do some fun stuff at least we would get a chance to laugh inbetween the crying!
