Do you really think Matt didn't expect to start Sat & isn't crushed regardless if they had a talk or not? This isn't a vote of confidence for Leinart at all & just adds to the pressures of him producing. Again, I think Matt wanted to be the starter in "dress rehearsal". I wonder how many other QB's that will start in week 1 isn't starting this weekend if healthy?

“A lot of people see this as a dress-rehearsal game,” Whisenhunt said. “We don’t look at it that way. There are a still a lot of things we are trying to find out about our team, from a personnel standpoint to schemes, all kinds of aspects.”

Well ...Doesn't this make sense now with the NFL network story that Leinart might be Released. ESPN Sheftner(sp?) saying DA is well liked by Whiz and will start. I mean they get the information from pretty good sources 95% of the time.

Leinart is gone by next Monday UNLESS DA plays horrific sat.

Question for all of you? How are any of us to know if Whiz didn't talk with Matt and let him know he wanted to see DA play against the Bears starting D to see if they even want to keep him on the roster?

Ha, because most of us have half a brain.

SOURCE = MR COMMON SENSE

I am just saying if Anderson plays well and Whiz puts him in there to change things up....Well wouldn't that give him the answer? I mean if you get tired of eating Hamburgers and you order chicken to try something different...And You like it...Wouldn't you order Chicken again? The thing is Leinart will refuse to play backup again and request a trade. He may be checking on it now.

Best view of this situation yet.

"Derek Anderson gets the start, and that means both he and Matt Leinart will be under additional scrutiny. Much was made, and rightfully so, about coach Ken Whisenhunt's decision to replace Leinart with Anderson to start this game. But nothing has necessarily changed for good. If Anderson struggles and Leinart finally breaks out, Whisenhunt will look like a master motivator. If Anderson outplays Leinart, hey, Whisenhunt must have known what he was doing all along. The priority, though, isn't for Whisenhunt to look smart. It's for the Cardinals to get the most out of their quarterbacks."

Thats simply coach speak CC. They may not be trying to win but they are looking at individuals & trying to give them the best chance to succeed & that means playing guys the feel can start with starters. Hey, I'm in Leinarts corner but feel the plug has been pulled unless DA pulls a "Raiders game".

What do chicken and hamburgers have to do with the QB situation? The beauty of an NFL contract is the organization has complete control of your rights. I cant see a situation where the Cards release Leinart as they would be stuck with 2 rookies unless they sign a vet. A trade doesnt look likely unless a QB comes back in return.

So your assertion is doubtful at best, which is why I asked for a source because you sounded so definitive in your statement

His half of brain thinks that there is no way a coach talked to a player and let him know what was going on....right that would be impossible. Some people only hear what they want to I guess.

If this team releases Leinart without giving him a true opportunity to succeed we have not come as far as alot of people thought! And then he will almost certainly go somewhere else and thrive and the media will blast the Cards for being irresponsible and just letting a high draft pick walk to play who instead? Ridiculous that this is even being talked about.

And it would be to save money while squandering money on a pompous guard who cant pass block and takes days off of camp because he played well back in Pittsburgh

solid crow thread.

I thought he was probably dust by Week 4 or 5, but I didn't expect him to be in a battle for his job and possible lose it to a pathetic QB before the season even started!

Right here with you bud!

Someone made me promise not to say anything bad about him until he plays again. So I won't.

You can talk about the newly anointed starter though.

:lmao:

Maybe people ought to pay attention to what he's said in the past about competing for jobs, and making sure that few are comfortable. And attention to the fact that he doesn't treat game three as a simple dress rehearsal for the upcoming season.

Whiz uses ALL meetings... ALL training... ALL practices... and ALL pre-season games to evaluate his squad.

He really isn't that hard to understand if one pays attention. He has a plan.. a strategy for implementation... and tactics to make certain he selects the best group. He's looking for talented, physically tough, and emotionally mature men to do one hell of a tough job.

The evaluation only ends when he signs off on the final 53.

:yeahthat:

Having read 30 pages of posts this is the best one.

Close second were those that Whis hates ML and has voodoo dolls of him and Edge and Beanie etc. :doi:

I'm with Matt until he's out the door. Heck, Rolle and Dansby are already out the door and I'm still with them :D.
