After going through this thread... I can only conclude that losing KVB is actually a good thing... Wow! am I relieved. I thought we had lost a starting DE, when in fact he was just taking up a roster spot.:D

P.S. one couldn't help but notice that KRANG, who afterr his initial "white" comments - said he wouldn't discuss it further, lurked until someone gave him approbation and jumped in once more to essentially defend the indefensible. :stupid:

You've got to be joking!

Jim, I'm not talking about sacks, I'm talking about pressure of any kind. KVB got manhandled in the preseason games, pushed up the field on passing downs, run directly at on rushes. He was a non-factor. That's three quarters in which he did nothing; if anything, it looked like he'd regressed from last season. This was KVB totally healthy and "in the best shape of his career," as well as someone who, according to Dave Pasch, we shoud "expect big things from."

Regardless of what everyone thinks, KVB was our starting weak-side defensive end, and that person's job is to get pressure on the quarterback. KVB was never able to do that, period, and was not doing it this preseason.

You said that KVB gets better as opposing offensive lines start to tire out. I assume that they were tired from running all over KVB for three quarters, because it wasn't because he was making them to a whole lot of work.

Look at the tapes.

Don't you ever post something, leave for a few hours, and then see that it blew up?

Kerouac, I saw the exact same things. KVB, despite the love for his personality, is a worse player than Michael Bankston was as a pass rusher.

Numerous times in the first two games, I saw KVB getting pushed back by the opposing tackle, and I don't even think his name was called at all in either game.

Obviously some people give out criticism a whole lot better than they take it.

Did I come in here insulting people? No, I did not, others insulted me first. I have no problem with people attacking my argument, but when people get personal, I do have a problem.

Ill tell you one thing he is not needed on this team. We already have people like KVB, they are called waterboys and cheerleaders. The waterboy is always in the weight room and the cheerleaders have that in your face quality and team spirit. There is no need for KVB.

I think we will agree to disagree.KVB was one of the starting DE`s on this team so i guess the Cards coaches felt he had ability. But what do they know?

I guess the coaches should have asked some of the keyboard GMs on this board.

I expect if you ever post something and I respond to it, you'll have a response up within the hour, without fail. Can you manage that? Can you GUARANTEE that? No? Those who live in glass houses...

I posted something, came back awhile later, and multiple people were attacking me personally for a theory that I didn't even propose.

As I said earlier, if you don't agree with it fine. I just don't appreciate the character assasination, and the pettiness that people resorted to (anyone who follow this thread saw it).

Well, you were supporting the theory at least to some degree right?

I believe that it is true to an extent. Some of the fans like KVB because he is a hardworking white guy. But I'm not saying that everyone likes him for that. If you like him for some other reason, then this doesn't apply to you. That's what I've maintained this entire thread.

Krang, could you drop the "white" bit, it getting old and potentialy offensive to some.

My apologies to the board for bringing up this dirt again but I can't let krang get away with revisionist history here..... My impression is that you've toned down your rhetoric to say that "some" people like him for that reason. The gist of your initial post was that people (yourself included) like him because he is a hard working white guy - therefore insinuating that a majority of fans felt as you do. That's why you got flamed.

I'm here defending myself against personal attacks. I'm not the one who started that. I stated an opinion, and I got attacked personally by numerous people.

That is unneccesary.

But I think that's exactly what we're discussing here, nidan. If KVB were a hard-working black guy that went down with a season-ending injury, and had the same lackluster production that KVB has, there wouldn't be a 17-page thread bemoaning his loss.

Revisionists history?

"I hope I don't get flamed for this, but I honestly don't view this as a huge loss.

Between Wakefield and King, we should be ok. KVB really has never done anything to warrant the love fest that the fans have for him. Sure, he plays hard and he's white, but other than that, he isn't a very good starting defensive end.

Wakefield is practically the same player, and I think that Kenny King could be better than Wakefield, since he seems to move better."

"Hmm...I'm not even going to answer that. I probably shouldn't have pointed out the obvious. If Kyle was black, he wouldn't get close the attention that he has.

Just my bold opinion, and feel free to disagree, but he has gotten way more attention than he deserves."

What's revisionist about this?

You are 100% wrong. If I recall there was a Davis injury thread too and we only lost him for a few meanigless pre-season games. The KVB thread was so long because we were discussing not only a season-long and possibly career-ending injury, but this rediculous race issue.
