Kraing,
I get what your saying. Yes, we have upped our defensive line talent, but come on dude. KVB's production will be missed.
1. Lowers the depth of the line.
2. He is a player, THERE is no disputing that. He makes plays.
3. He is a veteran. He knows the system. Yes, the younger guys are very talented but it takes time for them to get used to the NFL. KVB was perfect. Of course we all knew his playing time would decrease as the season goes on. But the first part of the season he was going to be the man on the defensive line.
YOU DON'T THINK HIS PRODUCTION WILL BE MISSED ? Tell me that after the frist four games. AND if somebody goes down, then really try to tell me about it. Plus more importantly he now has 2 bad knees so that pretty much, barring some serious serious rehab, end his career. SO instead of having KVB and Pace we just got Pace.
It is a serious serious serious loss and there ain't no other way to look at.
BTW - I HOPE YOUR RIGHT! I mean KVB is gone and that is that. I hope that the rest of the defensive line steps up and makes it seem like KVB wasn't even needed. BUT THAT IS TOUGH!
And regardless he was a quality player, and he played his @ss off for Arizona. I give him much respect and hope this is not the end of his career.
Peace
Rugby, you crack me up. Watch the tapes from this preaseason, his last two games, with his new bulk/speed/moves/health/development, and you'll see that, with all that going for him, he did
nothing. He didn't do
anything this preseason. People on this thread posted that he's not a pass rusher. The fact that that's what we drafted him for (with the #2 pick in the second round, no less) notwithstanding, he's not a run-stopper, either. Teams were actively running his way in
both games, with holes that you could drive a tractor-trailer through. If he wasn't a pass-rusher, and he couldn't help stop the run, then what did he do besides collect paychecks and have a "non-stop" motor?
Rugby, please tell me what play's he's made in the past year and a half, because I don't remember any. I remember seeing a lot of him running into the frame after the plays were already made. Well done.
If Kenny King and Calvin Pace get two sacks over the sixteen games of 2003, they'll equal KVB's production.
