This might be the best team we have seen on the pitch in 5+ years or so..... on paper.

Two big WCQs and the ASU and Cards openers all in the span of five days. That's an amazing sporting week.

Hertha's manager was told by Klinsy that he would release Brooks back to the club after the Costa Rica game. I am guessing he and Aron will both be cap tied by the end of that game.

Johannsson is already tied to the US, FIFA rules are goofy.

Yep as soon as he filed his paperwork to play for the US he could never go back. Brooks on the other hand isn't cap tied.

The only thing I would probably have changed in this roster is have Corona there and not Beckerman.

I am curious as to what lineup we will see. I hope we see Donovan, Dempsey, Johannsson and Altidore on the field at the same time.

Very cool. Donovan needs to keep his legs, not travel. Though I think, by reputation, MLS is more physical than La Liga. Don't know how true that is. I'd be curious how many people Eddie Johnson intends on hurting this year. Dude's a goon. Also worried the other long tooth, Tim Howard. Guessing it's the last run for those two. I want them to stay healthy!

How exactly is Johnson a "goon"? That isn't a tag I have ever seen applied to him. I could see that label on Jermaine Jones but not Johnson.

I've never heard a convincing explanation of when someone needs to fill out a one time switch and when they can just show up and get tied. I think part of it has to do with their status at the time of the rule change in 2009.

Watch the Seattle/Portland game with EJ and Kah going at it all game (FWIW, Kah should have been red-carded and suspended, probably for more than one game). I *like* EJ, more than some, but he has never been emotionally mature. He's not a player in control of himself, and he sulks a lot when he doesn't get scoring opps. I hear he's changed, but the older he gets, the more his apathy seems to be moving towards outbursts of anger on the field.

He's received a lot of passes because he has excellent athletic ability, but it comes at a cost. I can see him eventually maturing into a team leader because his emotions are on his shirt sleeve, but he's 29, so ... it's about team he finds some emotional balance and grow the frick up.

Altidore missed Sunderland's last game with a leg injury so who knows if he'll be playing on Friday.

To me the definition of goon is a guy who regularly throws himself in to reckless tackles or is looking to hurt an opponent. If anything Johnson doesn't make enough of an effort on the defensive side of the ball.

Immature I wholeheartedly agree with. He always has been and always has had an inflated sense of his skill set.

Seriously - that's your reference point?

It looks like Kah went out only wanting to chop him down - besides the completely unnecessary tackle he also went out of his way to knee EJ in the head.

Very emotional contest and EJ had the last laugh with the game winner.

I wouldn't have blamed him though if he wanted to take out Kah - most of the Sounders were ready to do the same

I completely agree that EJ needs to mature - a lot

However, I think you put goon on the wrong guy here

You must be registered for see images

Can't find one of the knee at work - but basically went out of his way to knee him in the head while he was sitting on the ground

Plus he recently threw a mean elbow at the RSL keeper ........... Kah is a goon

Altidore has been cleared to play on Friday against Costa Rica. They're probably going to need him, the US record when playing in CR is abysmal. Just a chance for Klinsmann to notch another first.

Fair enough. I don't know if I'm supposed to be upset or indifferent by his lack of growth. I know he irritates me like no other US player.

England vs Moldova on Fox, Mexico vs Honduras on ESPN, and the US on... beIN. Every time the NCAA does something that makes them seem like the stupidest organization in sports, I then remember just how jacked up FIFA is.

pretty much

I do have DTV so in theory I could watch the game .... but $13 per month for the sports pak to get this station, ESPN Classic and a bunch of local sports stations that will blackout anything worth watching or simply be redundant to FSAZ is simply not worth it

Yep it makes no sense. US Soccer should control the broadcast rights whether it is home or away.

It is better than it was in the past--I specifically remember PPV for US Vs. Honduras and US Vs. Panama in previous WC cycles...worse was watching US V Mex on a Mexican internet feed with dial up back in 2001 (pixelated garbage). Still it is far from ideal.

Even worse, although I have BeIN, it's all jacked up. The guide currently lists 10:25-12:30 as Peru v Uruguay, and doesn't list the U.S. game until 1:00-3:00. Argh!

Good link, no.

I usually use rojadirecta.me It is usually average.

The usually have most games available for download a few hours after the game, if you can put yourself in media blackout long enough to watch the game.

The rojadirecta link usually buffers and jerks every few seconds for me, and is unwatchable. Thankfully BeIn has two channels, so I found where it will be on at 10.

I wish I could link my channel with everyone on the board, so everyone could watch the game :(
