Just the latest example of Slin acting like he knows better, when in fact he spouts rubbish a great deal.

Ross McCormack has just gone to Fulham in a deal for £11m.

Was it £4m if Leeds were lucky Slin? Please stop acting like you know everything about the game. Maybe listen to others who might, maybe, know a little bit as well.

I enjoy it when certain people get their comeuppance.

Granted, no way is he really worth 11 mill, but I'm with you on the rest of it :D

I don't think he's worth £11m either and I'm his biggest fan. However Slin was sure Leeds wouldn't get more than £4m for him. That was a stupid assumption seeing that we'd already turned down higher offers than that. Now that silly transfer market some, which started this whole discussion, will say he's worth £11m. That's why you can't use the site as a tool to judge how good a team is.

Oh, I agree completely. I figure he'd have been a good signing at, say, 7. Although it turns out Newcastle weren't interested, I'd have been interested in us signing him for that.

Unfortunately I was at work, I saw the highlights and read stuff but that is it. The young guys held their own on the road it appears and some great goalkeeping won it for them.

The young guys did do a good job I thought. Especially Gyau. He looks like he has the ability to beat people off of the dribble from the wing which is something we desperately need.

DVR'd it. Gyau looked energetic and at time dangerous in the first half but faded in the 2nd and lost his man on a couple occasions. Diskerud looked like their best player aside from Rimando, the game totally changed once he and the rest of the midfield were subbed out. The US controlled most of the game for the first 60ish minutes but the last 30 was entirely the Czech Republic. That was to be expected. So all in all, getting a win in Europe is an accomplishment no matter the situation. Nice to see Jozy back after what happened in Brazil.

I read somewhere that there are reports today that Qatar has lost the 2022 World Cup. Anybody hear anything about it?

One FIFA executive said he didn't think the WC would be held in Qatar but it sounds like it is his opinion and not fact.

Hope it becomes reality...US or Aussies and I am happy with it.

The 2022 World Cup will not be held in Qatar because of the scorching temperatures in the Middle East country, FIFA Executive Committee member Theo Zwanziger said on Monday.

"I personally think that in the end the 2022 World Cup will not take place in Qatar," the German told Sport Bild on Monday.

"Medics say that they cannot accept responsibility with a World Cup taking place under these conditions," the former German football (DFB) chief, who is now a member of the world football's governing body FIFA that awarded the tournament to Qatar in 2010.

That goalframe should be melted down for being that unkind to Donovan.

I was really heartened by the game, aside from the Gyau (sp?) injury. Sure, we gave up the late goal, but we started without our better defensive players and switched out both central defenders. Some of our kids did really well, given the circumstances. Ecuador's a quality side, and holding them to a draw here is a good result.

I watched. Lack of possession and the fact the U.S. had very little offensive bite killed them. I realize Colombia is good but the US chased almost all game and defended desperately.

Jozy worked his butt off but he got very little service or quality looks.

Rubin looks like he could develop in to a good player.

Diskerud was terrible and Fabian Johnson invisible...not an entertaining game at all.

I caught it in the background as I was very busy this weekend. Agreed on Diskeruud and Johnson. Our insistence on playing it out of the back was clearly poor, and that we continued to do it was sheer stupidity. Rubin would flash, but he doesn't have the killer instinct needed to be a top striker, it appears. He had two goals put on plates before him and he didn't even get one on target, let alone put in a good shot.

I agree with what you both said. The midfield is the worst part of this team. No one knows how to hold possession in the midfield to dictate the game.

Well that was an embarrassing performance against Ireland. The back four showed a clear lack of intelligence, the midfield showed a clear lack of talent, and the forwards couldn't hit water from a boat.

This was only topped by the lack of aggression on set-pieces. The fancy, short passes were cute, but only works if you send a few passes into the penalty area.

Hopefully this was just an experiment with tactics and fringe players, during a meaningless Friendly. But being thrashed by Ireland is troubling.

I didn't watch the game---but 4-1 is a butt whooping no matter what.

The first half showed that Ireland's defense was slow to react, not very cohesive and overall poor. Yet, we came away with few chances. After the first 15 minutes, the Irish midfield (of only two names I recognized) had their way. The final 10 was watching 11 Americans worried if they were going to be late for the plane ride home.
