I have read some early reviews which are not all that great. Basically, saying that the show kicks off at a snail pace. I hope it picks up after the first couple episodes.

Most mythology episodes were historically pretty slow back in the day.

I cannot believe this is actually happening. So many memories! When the opening credits started rolling, all the memories came back. I love this show!

I loved it. May not be the best XFiles episode ever, but I loved it.

I especially love the promise of the next five episodes.

LOL

So many people DVR'd it, but the NFL ran long and cut off the end of the episode. DOH !!

I'm kind of on the fence after the first episode, but it's earned a spot in my DVR rotation. My viewing of the original series ceased after "Fight the Future" came out. I felt that the whole conspiracy was revealed in the movie, and quite honestly I lost interest. I tried to rewatch the original series a year or so ago, but it just didn't hold up.

Plus, I didn't see the second movie. So last night led to some confusion on my part.

To avoid spoilers...

Were Mulder's and Scully's memory erased or something? They both know all the details of the Alien Conspiracy. All of it was revealed in Fight the Future. They watched a huge alien spaceship melt it's way out of the Antarctic ice and fly away for kripe's sake!

But last night, they acted like all these alien believers were on crack. I just don't get it.

I thought the first episode was "meh". They jumped around a bit and the result was a tad confusing. I should have re-watched at least the movies to refresh my memory on some of this stuff but I didn't. However, if I get the gist of it of the plot:

all those years they were chasing down an alien conspiracy....there never was one. It was in fact a man made conspiracy using alien technology. I guess they painted themselves in that corner so there really wasn't many other places they could go? Sort of a reset.

The good news is several of the reviews I read said the show gets better with each episode. I will tell you...hearing that music again? That was pretty awesome.

To address your spoilered question:

Scully certainly has an open mind, but when that spaceship flew away, Scully was barely coherent after being rescued by that alien pod--her memory of that is sketchy at best. I have no doubt that especially Mulder believes in aliens, but I think the connection of the actual conspiracy to aliens is what is at dispute here.

I can dig that, and I understand that they have to do something to justify bringing the show back. I just thought it'd be different for some reason.

Ratings have been very good. Won the night last night.

Much more of a "classic" X-Files episode. My only complaint is that Duchovny and Anderson seem to be sleepwalking through the episodes so far, but it's getting better. From what I've read/heard, episode 3 is one of the best episodes of the entire series.

I adored tonight's episode. I had a smile on my face the entire time.

First episode, I was just so happy to have them on my screen again that I didn't really care about the mythology aspect (and overall, I still don't). Second episode, was pretty decent. This episode though felt like a warm hug after missing someone for so long. Loved every second of it. Loved Scully's line about "my Mulder," loved the reference to QueeQueg, LOVED Scully mentioning her immortality, and I got a kick out of it being Scully's poster, not Mulder's.

Sigh. So happy right now. Love this show to pieces.

OK, I just watched Episode 3. Could that have been any better? That might be one of the best episodes of the show period.

I liked it. Felt very old school X-Files feel to it.

Wow, I am seeing a bunch of negative reviews about Episode 3 -- it's obvious a lot of people didn't bother watching the original series and are going into this one blind. There's people even saying they are quitting the show after this one! Unbelievable!

Oh, and if anybody is curious--most of us know who Kim Manners is, but the other tombstone had "Jack Hardy" on it, he was the Assistant Director on one of the movies (I don't remember which one).
