Ditto...

However, one major complaint I have is the actual, limited amount of viewing... I mean, they start every show with a 8-10 minute set-up so it's not until 9:10 that the episode actually begins. And then the episodes end at 9:50! 40 mins of actual viewing... that sucks!

AGREED.

last night was easily the best episode of the series IMO. I wish the entire series had focussed around Sledge and his crew. While are the characters aren't likable per se, I find them and their circumstances much more interesting than Lecky and his crew.

Agreed....

I think Hanks and Spielberg got bogged down by trying to tell too many stories. They needed Leckey to transition from Sledge's friend to Sledge's unit. Also to tell the story of Guadalcanal after Basilone left.

There was just no "perfect unit" that went from Major battle to Major battle. Oh well.

I've given up on this show... they finally get to characters I care about watching... and then shift the story on to a character we basically haven't seen for 6 episodes? I didn't even both watching this week.

Well no need to worry, Basilone is dead. Only have two characters left.

i watched it today... one of the better episodes of the season. really, those first five of the season were relatively worthless, TV wise. The second half of the mini-series has been pretty damn good.

Part 9 was simply put, amazing. By far the best episode this series has done and rivals anything Band of Brothers put out. Sledge and Snafu were just fantastic in this as their roles were kind of reversed. If you gave up on the series go watch this episode, you won't be disappointed. Can't wait til next week for the conclusion since Sledge has become everything his father warned him about and everyone finally goes home. Hope to see Leckie involved a little as well.

I don't really understand all of the hate for this series. It was never supposed to be another "Band of Brothers." I didn't mind them focusing on different people throughout the series.

Last nights episode was great. Interested to see how they wrap everything up.

I have liked this min-series but like many other felt it was too uneven. We would get great episodes then an "ok" one that seemed to kill some momentum. It's still good but they killed off way too many main character IMO as well.

I actually think part 8 was a better episode. This one was decent though.

They can't really change history too much (like the way Basilone died). Part of the problem with historical pieces, but I thought they picked good characters overall.

Everyone but Lecky who's character is a complete bore. the actor who they picked to play him has little talent to boot which doesn't help.

I'm still struggling with this series...As I look back over all 10 episodes, I think in virtually every case, I was left wanting more... The show seemed to fly through story lines that could have been/should have been covered much more deeply.
All in all, I felt as though a monumental moment in American history was short-changed...

Yep.... Just stick with Sledge and his guys and this show could have been epic.

Man the pictures of those old timers and reading the history was cool. Some of that casting was really dead on IMO.

Finally had a chance to sit down an watch this final episode. Sad it took me so long. It was really a great way to end things and had moments that were as powerful as anything else portrayed in this series (Lena Basilone visiting John's parents was just fantastic). I think this series was very, very good. By far one of the better mini-series that has been on in some time but not up to the quality of Band of Brothers. If anyone is interested in watching I suggest you do. Quality entertainment that tells an amazing piece of history.

I just started watching this. The first two episodes were great. The third episode they spent the whole time in Melbourne. Totally garbage episode. I will probably not watch anymore.

He was good in the battle scenes I saw, but certainly horrible in the other scenes.

It gets better when they focus a lot more on the kid with the bad heart. Other Lecky and Basilone's story (when not on the island) are not my cup of tea.

Kid with bad heart looked like a terrible actor too. I am done with the whole thing.

I'm with you Mulli. That third espisode turned me off on the whole series. In fact the Pacific kind of sucked. It could have been done sooo much better. There was little substance to the whole series. It's almost like they tried to do too much blood and boobs and took away from developing the characters. Band of Brothers was excellent. You could relate to every character and that mini series sticks with you. The John Adams mini series was very well done also. I don't know why HBO decided to go in a different direction than those two series, but the Pacific was superficial and left a lot to be desired. I still can't believe how awful that third episode was. It didn't add a thing to the story.
