Kid with bad heart looked like a terrible actor too. I am done with the whole thing.

The last 3 episodes.... Skip the middle.

The 2nd to last episode is freaking gritty stuff.

Okay, so I haven't read the thread because I haven't started the series.

But, I'm almost done with Band of Brother and really like it. Is The Pacific just going to pale in comparison? If so, I'll likely just find something else to watch while doing cardio at the gym.

Band of Brothers is much better, but the Pacific is still a good show. I think it is worth a watch, especially if you're looking to kill a bunch of hours working out.

Thanks. I will.

I think I'll either watch The Wire or maybe I'll give True Blood another chance.

Its worth a watch. but compared to BOB its complete junk! The Wire is freaking fantastic!

BoB was terrific because you could stay with one unit (and one set of characters) throughout the European campaign.

The Pacific was harder to tell without inserting a fictional character(s) (which they didn't) because there were two distinct campaigns going on - the southern pacific campaign under Gen. MacArthur and the central pacific campaign under Adm. Nimitz. So, the same units were not involved in all the major battles all the way through the pacific war.

The Pacific is a bit more disjointed, but it's still a good watch. It's hard to live up to Band of Brothers - that show set the mark incredibly high.

The Wire is better but the Pacific is WAY better than True Blood. Band of Brothers is in the upper pantheon of television. Tough to compare anything to it.

Gotta watch it IMO. Just skip the austrailia girlfriend fiasco episode. Last 3 or 4 episodes were pretty good IIRC.

Its hard to compare bob to anything. It was the best miniseries of all time or something like that.

P.s. the wire is amazing. 2nd best series i have ever watched.

I liked it to be sure. But so far it just doesn't have that "it" factor that Band of Brothers had from the get go. The coming episodes look like they are promising though.

They should have titled this show "Band of Guys Fighting Really Important Battles Who I Could Care Less About".

It's just too all over the place for me. Again, production wise it's breath-taking, but the characters... egads! I understand that history is probably getting in the way of following just one set of characters but that's why this might be better served as a documentary and not a narrative 10 hour piece.

It took me three attempts to make it all the way through this series. As others did, I fell into the trap of comparing it to Band of Brothers.

By my third try, expectations were low enough that I could enjoy the episodes, especially the last few.

The DVDs contained a short intro that had clips of the real guys in battle. It's hard to comprehend what these guys went through.

just revisted the finale for this series and I gotta say, it was striking to me how average it was. what really hit me was at the end music plays and we see all the people in the series and the reality is that out of the 15 guys they showed, I think i remembered four of them in the series...as opposed to Band Of Brothers, I can still remember at least 10-15 main characters in that series.

That was a huge problem for me in this series. In the original BOB it was more focused on the central characters so that even when there were side stories it never felt like a different story.

In this, the cohesion was not there for me, the stores were more bland and it literally felt like a couple different guys did the series and never talked.
