John Elway, Todd Blackledge.

You all know which one we'll get right?

Optimistic post 42758.

Why would it say that when it says that they will "pick" him?? :mulli:

Because evne if they don't want to pick him they're going to say the do so that it pushes up the trade value for him.

I think they'd be nuts to pass on him for Clausen but who knows.

If Carolina would take Fitz and a #1, I'd help Fitz pack his bags.

ABSOLUTELY! I would hate to lose him but for Andrew Luck it would be a no brainer. Even with the #5 thrown in. Although I'm sure that would be a team Fitz would veto a trade to. :)

Not surprised. Doesn't mean they won't trade him for the right price either. A La San Diego and the Giants for Manning and Rivers. :fingerscrossed:

Exactly if Luck doesn't like who they hire as coach he can just tell them look I'm not playing for you, if you pick me, I won't sign. Hopefully the next sentence would be I want to play for the Cardinals.

that's why Carolina will make a play for Jim harbaugh I predict.

The ironic part is if he went to Carolina it would be like he went to a team in our division since we play Carolina every year. Can you imagine him beating our asses for the next 10 years?! Ugh!

only the Cardinals would be dumb enough to be DESPERATE for a QB and pass up on a guy like Luck (or Rothlesberger or Rivers).

jesus... all those Denny people... I love Fitz, but I don't know how you all can defend the man when he made the single dumbest draft pick in the history of the franchise passing on TWO franchise QBs to take a WR because he had Josh Freaking McCown.

yup... the only way he doesn't go to Carolina is if he refuses to play there.

as productive as Fitz has been, I forgot all about that but you're 100% correct. And we already had Boldin :bang:. At least Fitz hasn't been a bust though. The Cards pass on 2 franchise QB's and then AP for Levi :bang::bang::bang:. Maybe Graves should start looking at some film.

It sounds like this conversation is irrelevant...we shall see.

Panthers | Will draft Andrew Luck
Tue, 04 Jan 2011 11:55:55 -0800

The Carolina Panthers have indicated that they will draft Stanford QB Andrew Luck with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft if Luck decides to enter the draft, according to ESPN.com's Pat Yasinskas.

Maybe Luck can pull an Elway or Eli Manning and refuse to sign with them,

If he was that anxious to not go to Carolina, he'd just stay in school another year rather than make himself a pariah.
But seriously, is he going to tank his 2011 season with Stanford so he can be selected by a better team? Otherwise, if he DOES play his arse off again, he's going to be picked by an equally bad team--maybe worse. At least Carolina has a couple of stud running backs.

If we had the first pick and didn't end up with Luck, I would lose my friigin mind. I can see the Carolina fans feeling the same way. Probably the best barter chip they have to bring in Harbaugh.

I don’t buy it.

First of all, there is no way that they have decided on who to draft yet. The season just ended, they haven’t brought in a new coach yet and they have needs just about everywhere.

Second of all, they can’t say that they won’t even consider trading the pick. They simply can’t know that for sure. You know, like if the Patriots called and offered Tom Brady, Vince Wilfork and five first rounders.

I believe this article, if true, is about putting pressure on Luck. Now he kind of knows that he will be the number one pick if he declares. That has to be tempting. I would even suggest that the story might be leaked on purpose for the very same matter. Obviously, the Panthers don’t expect to have the top pick again anytime soon, and Luck is definitely worth the pick. Furthermore this increases the value of the pick, as some has stated in this thread. Now everyone knows that is will take something really sweet to make Carolina think about a trade. This story is very much in favor of Carolina.

To stay on topic, I would trade everything to get Luck.

FYI for all you guys who don't like running QBs Luck was Stanford's 2nd leading rusher this season.

:D

I would trade our 1st(#5), our 3rd, and DRC to Carolina for Luck.

then sign Champ Bailey who is a free agent.

yep-- and "wont even consider trading the pick" as well

That is an easy stance when teams aren't dangling a horde of picks in your face, especially if you can stay in the top 10.

Also, how can they say that when they don't even have a coach yet.

Anything can be had for the right price...fact.
