I can if I want. No QB with a 52.6 completion rate should be starting.

He can feel free to beat out Kolb and prove me wrong. He had been in this offense long enough. Succeed or get out.

I'm glad the Giants didn't think that way. We'd have never been able to sign Kurt Warner as a Free Agent. Of course we might have been able to pick up Manning after the Giants cut him.

Eli was on the cusp of 50% completion his first several years in NY.

Manning's rookie season his first 4 starts he had a 38.6% completion rate and threw 6 interceptions to 1TD. Then the following season he has a 52.8% completion rate.

Mulli would have benched Manning in favor of Warner after that 4th rookie start and made sure he paid Warner enough to remain as a backup in '05 & '06 and then cut Eli after week 10 of Manning's 3rd season, 2006, when he had back to back games of under 50% completion and threw 4 picks to 1 INT combined in those two games because Eli'd had enough time in the offense and didn't succeed so out he goes and Warner becomes the Giants starter again.

So Warner wouldn't have been available after the 2004 season but Manning would have after the 2006 season.

You know not what you speak of, since I supported Leinart over everyone else for like forever.

Has anyone who watch Eli and Skelton play ever thought the two were similar? Ever? In any way?

Well they both have shown their best work from behind late in games, but otherwise, no.

They are similar in completion % early in their careers. And that was the subject matter. I didn't care about Manning or the Giants so I never watched them play in 2004, 2005, 2006. Nobody is trying to compare the Eli Manning we see today with Skelton today but only completion % at similar points in their career.

Since I am pretty sure I had the EXACT same discussion about Skelton last year, can we all agree this topic is now so boring it hurts?

No, because we have a different look on offense this year, Ryan Williams, Michael Floyd, Bob Massie, Batiste, and Snyder, and its the first year Skelton has had a real opportunity with the first team for a full off season.

But speaking of the Giants can the Cards win with Skelton like the Giants did with Manning early in Eli's career? We have what looks like a better Defense than those Giants teams and on paper the potential to equal their run game. Of course in looking at the numbers you wonder how in the heck they won so much. 29 wins 2005-2007.

One thing that jumps out at me is the TD to INT ratio. Much better than what we've seen from Skelton so far. That would have to stop and the sacks are double what the Giants allowed.

Just something to discuss since we don't have a game this week. :p

I'm just glad we're talking football. Real games start in less than two weeks my friends! Then we can dissect games and plays and discuss everything in more minute detail. :)

Have you seen any progression from Skelton this off-season?

Can't tell. I've hardly seen Skelton at all this off-season. What does he have 20-25 attempts? Dewreck Anderson had 56 in 2010 and Kolb had 40 last year. And who the heck can tell anything about our QBs when they're getting knocked down .3 seconds after the ball is snapped.

I will say this. I've actually seen John's head move from one side of the field to the other on the few pass plays hes had and Skelton looks much better at handing the ball off.

The lack of reps isn't a coaches thing though, that's because they haven't moved the chains. Too many 3 and outs and INT's. And our D has been gouged in the run game, so our opponent TOP is over-the-top while the starters are in.

I would venture to bet that our longest preseason drive and longest TOP from the starters was Kolb's 2-minute offense before halftime. That should speak volumes on offense. Just pathetic.

Speaking of TOP how Cardinal is it that Oakland has the ball for 35:21 and the Cards 24:39 and the Cards win and the next week the Cards have the ball for 38:12 and the Titans 21:48 and the Titans win.

You gotta love the pre season and Cardinals football.

I do. Both do not get rattled. Both attack downfield. Both are innaccurate when playing bad. Obviously now Eli has matured into an Elite QB. But in fairness it didn't happen over night

I would be totally down with that, and I see it myself but this OL really does not seem to be at the level the Giants had and I'm not saying the Giant line was great either.

Exactly. Which is why the Cards shouldn't throw the baby out with the bathwater. Though Mulli would like that because then he could sue the bathwater Company on behalf of the baby.

And if Eli Manning had been a late round pick or undrafted free agent, and not Eli Manning, he would have been out!
