In the event of a Palmer retirement...
Everyone is talking about Romo which I just dont understand. Why not Nick Foles? I love looking at salary cap situations for teams and he just doesn't make sense for the Chiefs. They only have 4 million in space, and he is going to count for 10 million against the cap. He also has no dead cap hit if cut and would allow them to resign and or franchise Eric Berry. Yet, there is no talk about Nick Foles, on a team with little space who can easily create some without a hit.
Nick Foles is only 28, and the ideal size that Arians would want at 6'6" and 248lbs. Is he a great QB? No, but he provides a better chance than Romo, more stability, and more time. I dont see how anyone in their right mind could or would want Romo. I also dont see how cutting Romo makes sense for the Cowboys realistically with a 19 million dollar cap hit to save 5, which then requires they go sign another back up QB eating up some of the 5 they save.
If it was between Nick Foles, Romo, and Glennon.... I think Foles is the answer. I dont think his time with the Rams is really one he should be judged off.
He completed 69% of his passes in college, and accuracy is something that you can't really teach... (Logan Thomas) He has a strong, powerful arm and can make deep throws. He isnt very mobile but when has our offense been based on a mobile QB?
Thoughts?
