In the event of a Palmer retirement...

Everyone is talking about Romo which I just dont understand. Why not Nick Foles? I love looking at salary cap situations for teams and he just doesn't make sense for the Chiefs. They only have 4 million in space, and he is going to count for 10 million against the cap. He also has no dead cap hit if cut and would allow them to resign and or franchise Eric Berry. Yet, there is no talk about Nick Foles, on a team with little space who can easily create some without a hit.

Nick Foles is only 28, and the ideal size that Arians would want at 6'6" and 248lbs. Is he a great QB? No, but he provides a better chance than Romo, more stability, and more time. I dont see how anyone in their right mind could or would want Romo. I also dont see how cutting Romo makes sense for the Cowboys realistically with a 19 million dollar cap hit to save 5, which then requires they go sign another back up QB eating up some of the 5 they save.

If it was between Nick Foles, Romo, and Glennon.... I think Foles is the answer. I dont think his time with the Rams is really one he should be judged off.

He completed 69% of his passes in college, and accuracy is something that you can't really teach... (Logan Thomas) He has a strong, powerful arm and can make deep throws. He isnt very mobile but when has our offense been based on a mobile QB?

Thoughts?

  1. I like the way Foles runs a 2 minute offense and believe that with the right coach and a good, supporting cast, he could be highly efficient. Yes, he struggled with the Rams -- but so have all their other QBs under their carousel of OCs.

We won't have the Cap space for another FA QB unless they cut ties with Stanton mtl, especially if Campbell re signs.

This is if Palmer retires - so we will have plenty of money even with Campbell.

I think it is a good risk as long as we don't have to give up any draft picks to Andy Reid :)

The Qb I want is Drew brees. I think his contract is up after 2017 and he can't be franchised if I'm correct. If Arians leaves then why not Sean Payton.

Foles is a hot steaming pile of crap. IMHO

Seriously, i'd rather roll with Stanton, Dysart and a rookie over that pile of dung.

Foles is 2-2 vs AZ...1-1 in Philly and 1-1 with Lambs.

And, I remember each one of those games. He sucks, but we sucked harder in each loss.

Check the stats...2 good games, 1 average game and 1 ******* game. 8 tds vs 3 ints.

Not saying he's a great qb, but the stats say he'd at least be serviceable.

He's no better than Stanton to my eyeballs. Pick four games of Stanton and that is about what he does.

Nick Foles is utter garbage.

The reason he had a 27/2 TD/INT ratio is because Chip Kelly brought a whole new system to the NFL nobody was prepared for.

A year later, coaches are more prepared against his scheme & you see Foles regress badly.

Then he goes to the Rams & becomes extremely garbage there.

No thanks at all.

Why not also trade for beanpole-who-can't-play Brock Osweiler and his outrageous contract, and maybe add geezerly 6'8 Dan McGwire as the #3 guy? They'd have the tallest "QB room" in the league!

Stanton is garbage. Don't kill the messenger but Stanton doesn't have what it takes to lead a team to a winning season.

But yet has a winning record. I'm not saying your wrong, just saying that it is possible. Obviously the team would have to change their game plans to fit him. He would have to be a game manager as we ran the ball more and played tough D.

The issue with Stanton is he's been in the league a long time, and he doesn't make progressions. He should have a lot more interceptions than he has. If you have nfl game pass go watch a game he played in. When the ball is snapped he looks at his 1st read, and that's where the ball goes whether open or not 80% of the time.

His career completion percentage is 53%.... Think about that.. 14TD's to 19 Int.... It's not like he had 1 bad season, they all were. With AZ, 55%, 44%, then 39%. He doesn't have a winning record, the defense got him that. Even special teams got him one against the Giants.
