if you ask a dallas fan...you hear the same for them. Lakers, spurs, celts etc etc

Officiating across the board is not up to par. However, the constant blaming of the officials for losses gets old.

Look how many people here are blown away that bell got ejected. There isnt a player on any team that WOULDNT get ejected in that instance when UPSTAGING a ref like he did. Come on.

It's bad for everyone. You have keep your composure.

Did you see the game? He. Laughed. Motionless.

He wasnt making a statement or an action intended to upstage the refs. He stood there and chuckled while Melo muttered something.

Shame on you.

Yes I did watch the game. And if you dont think he was mocking the ref and therfore upstaging him.... well.... not much i can say to that. He stared at him, started laughing which will get ANYONE a tech.... then continued in an even more demonstrative manner. Sometimes you just have to take the blinders off and call it like it is.

Now the foul he got called for.... absolutely a TERRIBLE call.

But the fact is.... right or wrong.... the suns are perceived as whining too much. I personally think thats because your coach never relents. It's like every call! It works against you. So, perception right or wrong, at this point in time, puts you under the microscope and subject to tighter scrutiny.

You guys know im a Laker fan, but am also a big fan of several suns players. I think the Lakers as well, gripe WAY too much. Especiall Kobe! Now, Kobe gets hacked a lot where there are no calls. He also gets calls where there was no foul. Same with all the superstars. You have to pick your spots here and there to show your displeasure. When you constantly are complaining, right or wrong, you are going to eventually lose that battle. Just like Koba has. Best thing to happen to lakers this week was him getting his last possible tech. Now he has to shut up and play.

So, what im trying to say is, the officiating in the NBA isnt going to suddenly improve overnight. All the complaining in the world isnt going to get you better treatment, thats for sure. So all you can do as a player is bite your tongue, play on, and dont let your team get into a position where a bad call is going to hurt you. All teams and their fans feel they get the short end of the calls. However, there are a handful of people here that complain about the officials EVERY SINGLE GAME like the league is out to get only you. It's just not so.

Your right on one thing: Dallas doesnt get favorable calls either. However, Lakers and Spurs are the most blessed teams in the league in terms of officiating. Count how many times Kobe gets a call each game and they show the replay and he wasnt even touched.

The Raja ejection was the product of a referee having too much pride in the call he made. Raja objected rather harmlessly, yet gets TWO technicals for it. The nuggets were taunting, throwing balls in the air, cursing, and reacting worse than the suns and didnt get any Ts.

Im not gonna say officiating was the only reason we lost (because of all of the TOs) but it reared its ugly head once again in this game

Raja laughing is so far from ejection provocation that I still believe you didn't watch the game, cobbles.

did you see the way camby acted? melo?
haha.

raja did nothing to "upstage" the refs.

There is a difference between showing anger or questioning of a call and upstaging/mocking. Staring someone down and laughing the WAY he did was upstaging. Anyone .... and i mean anyone would get ejected for that.

Well, hopefully without being called a troll and other nicities *grin* i would have to agree to disagree. Im not talking about any other plays or calls, just the bell ejection, and i saw it as him totally upstaging the ref. And i would say that if it was my teams player too. Just my opinion. I played many many years of high level ball and im telling you, you could call a ref every name in the book under your breath but if you ever laughed like that in indignation.... instant T! Just my experience.

As for Kobe getting lots of calls where he isnt touched.... i totally agree. But you know what, he also gets hacked a lot where there are no calls. We all see our teams through rose colored glasses.

I also blame the players just as much as the officials for the state of calls these days. All the flopping etc has degraded the game and made it all the tougher to make consistant calls.

anyway, thats my 2 cents.... hope i didnt offend anyone

I didn't watch the game, but I can tell you're ignoring the point. That's hardly a big shock, since all you really want to do is argue and insult the Suns.

Did Bell deserve to get ejected? I have no idea, but let's say that he did. The point that Suns fans are making in this thread is that Anthony did the same thing, over and over again, and got away with it. To that, there are only two valid responses:

1. No he didn't, and I watched the game, so I know.

2. Hmm, well then maybe it's true that what Bell did does not always result in an ejection.

If you can't say (1), your only option is (2). End of discussion.

The last player I remember getting ejected for laughing was Tim Duncan and the ref that ejected him was suspended indefinately. Of course he was later re-instated by David Stern......I think it was Joey Crawford.

or... 3. Smirking or smiling and walking off... in often the same mannerism that you always do (carmelo) and staring down a ref and OVERTLY laugh at him, then continue after the T is issued are not even remotely similar.

Im saying i watched the game, and any player from ANY team would have been ejected doing the EXACT same thing.

and again.... you pop on and throw out the "personal" barb towards me. Go figure

Yes he was. Was it coincidence that he was suspended for "T"ing up the face of the SPURS?
I think not.

I didn't see the calls on Raja. But the technical on Amare was just bad call too. It was clear that Amare were straight up while AI pushed with his off arm in the air. At best it was a no-call. Yet, Amare got the technical for waving off his arms in disagreement. And that was in critical late 4th quarter, for the refs to not only make the wrong call first but also the costly tech for harmless protesting gesture.

Correct. Like I said there are plenty of instances to show how awful the officiating is.

I prefer not to blame the refs for a loss unless its blatantly obvious (i.e. Luke Walton's "steal" in the Suns/Lakers series a few years ago where he was a foot-and-a-half out of bounds and hacking Nash at the same time) but unlike Stern I'm not going to simply ignore the numerous issues that the league has in the officiating department.

I was at that game. Nash was hacked at the end of the 4th and OT, plus the out of bounds on Walton

Thats why I hate refs

Suns quotes after tonight:

Suns Head Coach Mike Dantoni

"I thought it was a good game. We had our chances to win. Both sides had a barrage of unbelievable shots. Their good and we are good; we just didn’t get it done. We missed a couple of shots. We did what we were supposed to do, but they closed it up. Losing Raja Bell hurt us there is no doubt about it. Again they played well and won the game. For them it’s do or die and for us it’s do or die and sometimes it does get heated. I thought we played great. I am really proud of our guys. We battled and had a chance to win, but we couldn’t get a basket at the end of the game."

Suns center Amare Stoudemire

"We were definitely battling out there. I thought we had a great chance to win the game. Calls didn’t go our way and that was the game. Raja got ejected for smiling and I never saw that in my career. All he did was smile at the official and he got ejected. That was tough for us Raja is one of our key players. Big playoff atmosphere type of game and one of our players gets ejected for smiling and that definitely did not play to our favor. We still had a chance to win down the stretch and we just couldn’t pull it out. I have no idea how these technical fouls are coming. It’s like they want you to play with no emotion or say anything and technical fouls are a grand a piece. It’s not a cheap foul and we can’t afford to have them. I think we played well enough to win just too many free-throws for the Nuggets, we were down a man, and we were already down a man with Grant not playing."

Suns guard Steve Nash

"We should feel good about this. It was our fourth game in five nights from New Jersey all the way back home and then here. I felt we played well enough to win. We didn’t get a lot of breaks. We were right there. I just didn’t have a lot in the tank early. Finally in the fourth I found a little bit of my legs. I tried to be aggressive, but I just don’t feel good and I was faking my way through it. The technicals don’t concern me; not getting any calls does. They can’t expect us not to get emotional. It’s an emotional competitive game. Guys are going to get excited."

I bet we get screwed hard again by the refs in the next game for complaining about them tonight.

After that blown call, I can't blame you.

I know there is a human aspect to officiating and it is a tough job but the officiating league-wide has reached a laughable level.

Yet, Amare got the technical for waving off his arms in disagreement.

A couple of minutes later, Camby made essentially the same gesture. No T.

And several times, AI screamed at a ref, and no T.

When it comes to T’s, the refs were not applying the same standards to both teams. If you watched the game, that’s bloody obvious.

good to see we learned our lesson from a few weeks back about complaining about the refs... er... I mean. Jesus, I'm used to our fans acting like the Kings but to see our players regularly dipping into that well doesn't bode well for the mental toughness. Suck it up and realize that bitching about the refs only makes you a BIGGER target (and whether that's right or wrong DOESN'T MATTER... it is what is and if our guys are too stupid to realize that then that's a flaw we'll somehow have to overcome). Good lord Suns.

And it starts with the coach. D'Antoni needs to take cold water with him on the sideline. I agree that couple of key games lately had atrocious calls against us that may have affected the outcome but we need to suck it up and just play thru it.

yup. I'm just waiting for the day that he goes Chuck Daly on lands flat on his ass. Maybe it's the mustache, but man alive does he look just so much more ridiculous than any other coach out there bitching about calls.

The stache makes him look like a cartoon character. That and the way that he pumps his hands downwards and kind of jumps up. You can't take him seriously. Now when Jerry Sloan gets in your face, that's serious. Mike just seems like he's throwing a temper tantrum out there.
