When the coach verifies that it does in fact matter...then we are only left with 3 options for the roof open crowd:

1) You feel looking out into the sky is more important than maximizing your home field advantage

2) You feel that since we have a stadium feature, using that feature is more important than maximizing your home field advantage.

3) You don't understand that sound reflects back and still somehow believe that it doesn't matter despite multiple people telling you it does.
I think there's a 4th option, although it plays into some of your others. I think it's open for purely cosmetic reasons--it's nice outside and it's Thursday night football. Fans love the game of football but the owners are still selling a product. If having it open sells the Cardinals for more prime time games I'm all for it.

If Twitter is any indicator, it looks like there are a ton of Vikings fans, and it may have been worth it opening the roof. Would hate for our team to go silent count at home.

Untill we have less than a third opposing fans this debate is for not. Loved the D chants when we had the ball.

No way it was that many, looked more like 10-12.

Looked how? On TV or something? There were a LOT of Vikings' fans in attendance.

One of the benefits: the huge group of purple-clad fans in our section at the end of the game started a loud "Let's Go, Vikings !!" chant...trying to drown out the Cardinals' fans who were yelling like crazy for our defense. We appreciated the extra noise. :D

What we need is a poll! Only those that actually attend games will be allowed to vote.

I think this entire debate is 100% ridiculous. I go to all the games and was there last night of course. I sit 11 rows off the field on the Cardinals side of the field. And I maintain that there is NO, as in NONE, difference in noise when the roof is open vs closed. None!
For the record, I much prefer the roof open.
Last night was incredibly loud and electric! I would peg the Vikes fans at roughly 12k. But they were easily handled by the home team fans who were rockin last night!!

I'm up top. Looking over the stadium I'm very comfortable saying 20K. It looked like 1/3 were in purple last night. We did great the house was loud but they still had their moments as well.

What a beautiful night for football and I loved that the roof was open. Didn't affect the crowd noise IMO. In fact the little DB meter they kept showing had it just as loud as when the roof is closed.
