Ironically even though I thought the chances were slim, I was saying the Suns should have waited for this very week to hire a coach. I would have to imagine, having a coach be able to help choose the #1 pick is very rare and would be a great selling point.

I will tell you this. With the #1 pick, Booker etc. and the expectations?

Mark it down. Igor will have a harder job and will have to show major improvement in a short period of time....or he gets a quick hook.

I agree with the last sentence but Igor will have lots of talent to work with. This should make his job much easier so I think it evens out.

Starting from the bottom, the Suns can only go up.

Sarver being a U of A guy might help make Ayton a lock.

This is something that has been overlooked with the talk of Sarver seeing Doncic play in person. He is a U of A guy and surely he sees the potential to sell tickets drafting Ayton and keeping him in Arizona.

Also Doncic won't be taking part in individual workouts for teams. The Suns may know what Doncic brings to the table because of Igor but can Igor sell Sarver, McD, and James Jones on selecting the guy who won't work out for them at #1 overall? I don't think so. Especially with Ayton in play and being the projected top pick in this draft well before draft order was decided.

As the Suns GM, Ryan McDonough has to be savoring having the #1 pick in a loaded draft.

He will work it for all it's worth but I trust him to make the right decision come draft day.

If McD even mentions anyone else in the draft room, he should be fired immediately before he can make the pick!

This would be the one time we'd welcome Sarver's meddling to overrule that nonsense.

Fifty years of watching the Suns come up short of the #1 pick. Not only did we win, we can get Ayton and get going.

What I mean by harder is the expectations. He will be held to a higher standard because of the talent pool here. Especially, after the #1 pick.

I expect a quick hook unless he shows something pretty fast.

As long as that right decision is Ayton! ;)

Minimally I think Igor will be given a couple of seasons unless the wheels fall off which I don't expect to happen.

I'd rather trade for a vet at this point. We're not tanking any more

I admit a vet is tempting but if we can land a young good player? This team is super young and can compete for years if they fill that spot with a young stud.

You can still get a good young player via trade (ie Kemba walker) to stay in the Timeline. Young is also anything but a sure thing

It's going to be interesting reading about offers for our pick(s). Let the grovelling begin!

I'm looking forward to this. I think we'll probably hear about Jackson and the #1 pick for Leonard a lot but I wouldn't do that, I'm not sure if I would be willing to do that for #2 or #3 either but definitely not the #1. I'd hate to see Ayton and Jackson wearing Spurs jerseys keeping the Suns from winning a title for years to come.

So now how do we get oung?

Exactly. These are the days we were waiting for... sitting in the catbird seat and having fun.

Let them bring their offerings.

Edit: If Young drops to around #8, make some moves to get him.

Yes. Lay your offerings down and gently back away. Don't offend us or disrespect us ever again! Ha

indeed. there is no way phx becomes responsible for a potential legacy of Robinson, Duncan, Ayton

Walker?
DeRozan?

Walker, Wall (a year over the timeline but tempting), Connelly (although his injury issues scare me), rozier is even tempting.

There are plenty of pg options via free agency or trade. Can't say the same about big men which is why getting ayton is such a big deal

I don't even want to think. Let the Spurs do their own rebuild.
