This article ignores everything going on in the NBA...it just has a focus of the suns getting in the playoffs. Then it goes on to this BS trade offer and loses ALL credibility.

Minnesota receives: No. 1, Milwaukee 1st likely to convey in 2020, Miami 1st unprotected in 2021, Josh Jackson

Phoenix receives: Karl-Anthony Towns

No chance. I could see the Milwaukee pick being included but throwing in the Miami pick and Josh? No way. Warren and the Milwaukee pick could be added but if it takes adding both then the Wolves need to add to it also, like adding Tyus Jones.

We already went down this road and I made it clear I wouldnt trade Ayton straight up for Townes. They can take that 5 year supermax deal and shove it. They aren't doing us any favors. We have a stud on a rookie deal and we will have him a loooooong time.

Ppl aren't standing in line for KAT but they are coming out in droves for our #1. That tells me all I need to know!

I think posters make more realistic trades on the Suns forum. Why on earth would the Suns part with all these assets to take what may be a super-max contract.

Booker and Jackson are untouchable, and I can say that with relative confidence.

The #1 pick should also be untouchable, but McD is the GM, so he’s capable of ****ing it up

Ayton and his long term rookie deal (and his future extension) is the perfect vehicle to wait out GS. We don't need any Townes with his shorter max money contract. They got to ride his rookie deal now they want to stiff us with the bill...and then ride another rookie deal while we pay all over the place to get nowhere. Pfffft

Plus all this "Booker and Townes are friends" garbage. That means NOTHING. So they played some college basketball together...so what. I'm sure Ayton will make "friends" with Booker and everyone else. Im getting sick of this lame brain preschool kiddie crap. We arent going to base our next decade with this franchise on who is buddy buddy with whom. It's like get real already.

A lot of these writers need something to discuss. It's probably only going to get worse. If I start to hear something concrete... then I will start to worry.

The Suns tried to attract LaMarcus Aldridge by signing Chandler. This friend stuff seldom works.

I agree the Suns are not ready to take on the Warriors until they solidify their lineup. Building upon a base of Booker, Jackson and Ayton is the way to go. The Suns do not want to get handicapped with max salaries while they are still building.

Ayton was already hanging out with Booker, Jackson, and Ulis before the draft lotto

There is really an excellent article written by Scott Bordow that covers the first round from the Suns perspective. A lot of the information is already out there but Bordow does a great job of pulling it together.

Forgive me if it has already been posted but it is well worth a re-read.

McDonough reiterated that if the Suns take a big man with the No. 1 pick, they’ll likely look for a point guard with the No. 16 selection, and added that Phoenix could use its assets to move up in the first round. Alabama’s Collin Sexton and Kentucky’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander are two point guards Phoenix could target.

The Suns likely will know whom they’re taking with the top pick before the June 21 draft. Just don’t expect any sort of formal announcement.

“The league asked us not to say anything even if we do, so we’ll keep it close to the vest,” McDonough said.

I heard an interview recently with McD in which he said they were trying to do a shorter turnaround rebuild when they tried to sign Alderidge. But the moment that he declined their offer they switched to the longer term (3 years cycle) rebuild.

Here is why we will be talking about Ayton or Doncic until draft day. Its about marketing.

The Suns likely will know whom they’re taking with the top pick before the June 21 draft. Just don’t expect any sort of formal announcement.

I view KAT and Ayton as roughly equal in trade value and here is why...

KAT is the proven player. He has the stats to back him up. But a players value is also based on contract length (among other things). The contract length is the 'lifeline' of the player. Well Townes has already used four years of that life. How long is a typical contract? Four years. So he already went through a cycle. Now he gets an extension which will add another four years to that last year for a total of five. But now the money goes way up which 'taints' his new cycle of time.

Now we have Ayton. He has no NBA stats but 'perception' is everything if he is being viewed as the next KAT. Until that perception is broken his value remains extremely high. He is on a brand new contract....conceivably for nine years...about half of which is cheap dollars. Salary is what makes the world go around in the NBA. The more cap space available....the more power.

Now the only way I'd consider a KAT for Ayton trade is if we could make maximum use of his time here. We can't wait around for our other players to get better while Townes lingers here. We would need to make a serious push deep in the playoffs to make his stay here worthwhile. Bottomline our team is not ready for KAT...they are too young and other teams in the NBA are too strong.

One other possible scenario is if the Twolves would take on some of our dead contracts to offset Townes new big money. They could say "forget you" but ultimately they pay anyways if they have to cough up big bucks for KAT.

That's interesting, where did you hear that?
I have a family friend who has good relationships with the people handling his pre-draft workouts. I know, typical message board rumors, but I 100% trust this dude. I know for a fact he's met Ayton too.
