The media try to convince us the #1 pick isn't as valuable as it is...that we should package it with other players. Well if it isn't all that then why is every other trade proposal about our pick? Why is picking and sticking with Ayton a doomsday scenario?

I hope whoever we pick with the #1 pick plays like a beast/nightmare/monster on the court.

I don’t like players that look like Tarzan plays like Jane.

No worries. There is no way we can mess this up.

The Suns do not need to do a smokescreen owning the #1 pick unless unless they want Doncic to slide and move up from #16 to get him.

Yep

If the Suns had just the #1 there would be no need to play any games. Given the fact that they also own the #16 means they are in full scam mode.

At least the reporters are. :p

Perhaps some agents are trying to manipulate where a player goes as well.

I don't think it is that complicated. McD said in an interview recently that the league office has asked the Suns to keep their pick secret until draft day. The NBA is trying to create intrigue to keep up interest. That is all it is. They want to monetize the draft.

Sure, that makes sense for the #1 pick but the 16th pick is anybodies guess. The Suns could keep it, trade it, smoke it .....

There is always 2 players that get pushed as the potential #1 pick, no matter how much of a lock 1 guy is. There is always trade rumors for the #1 pick also, it's way of giving it value. Everyone knows what most stars are worth and saying the #1 overall pick for Ayton helps sell everyone on the idea that Ayton could/should be that good in the NBA.

The term unicorn is just being thrown around by the media and like. The term originated to describe bigs who can protect the rim, rebound, and shoot from three.

Some of the guys listed as "unicorns", which I even saw Steph Curry's named mentioned as one, are not what the term was coined for.

Just a pet peeve of mine.

Yeah, it’s just overselling. Kind of like how we seem to have the “greatest” finals/tourney/Super Bowl every other year now.

I hope that's the case. In this day and age of 24/7 sports talk, the media has to keep the conversation going. That would include 4-5 different possibilities with the pick to nitpicking Deandre Ayton.

Can whoever has the Calendar Cheat Codes advance the day to June 17th? The anticipation is starting to get on my nerves.

The draft is on June 21st.

I knew that. I even looked it up just before I made that post. Now, if I could just figure out why I typed 17 instead of 21, all would be well. So yeah, someone please advance the date to the 21st. It's probably because I'm listening to music, playing the original Final Fantasy game (for the 100th time or so) and reading at the same time.

I understand. I'm ready to change the draft date to June 17th if you can swing it.

If it is not clear by the 17th who the suns are taking, maybe not from the suns but other sources and journalists, then I would get nervous.

I think it's already pretty clear (Ayton) and not likely to get much clearer until the day is here. I think there's maybe a 10% chance that we'll trade the pick or Bamba, JJJ or even Trae will wow them in workouts but Ayton is the 90% play IMO. I'm just tired of waiting and I'm curious about our other picks.

I tell ya what though the wait was much much more gruelling pre lottery . The difference now is like waiting for Christmass when before it was like waiting for the judge to issue a sentence

So true. Waited for lotto with dread. Waiting for draft with excitement.

You're right but I could never sit still waiting for Christmas either.

Plus all this "Booker and Townes are friends" garbage. That means NOTHING. So they played some college basketball together...so what. I'm sure Ayton will make "friends" with Booker and everyone else. Im getting sick of this lame brain preschool kiddie crap. We arent going to base our next decade with this franchise on who is buddy buddy with whom. It's like get real already.

Thanks! Well said.

I went back to tankathon and ran it a bunch of times. I just smile big every time it shows up #4.
Why would you do that?!? That’s a classic movie maneuver to inadvertently send yourself back in time and somehow influence the lottery so we slide to #4. You’re Dan Akroyd in that movie!
