okay. there's one, I guess.

To be fair, in an earlier post I had said that Doncic's ceiling is Mike Miller... which got a response from someone that Doncic's floor was at minimum Mike Miller plus Dr. J plus Jesus Shuttlesworth rolled into one.

Most draft sites have Doncic’s ceiling as a combination of Ginobili/Hayward.

Manu Ginobili’s skillset in Gordon Hayward’s body.

Well... this draft is not predictable. I've seen no consensus on any pick after #1.

I'm 99.9% sure we're taking Ayton.

I'm 100% sure Bagley goes in the top 5 but I have no idea where. Doncic top 6.

Then you've got guys like Bamba and Young who could go anywhere from 2nd to 10th.
I am sure we are taking Ayton.
I am 80% sure the Kings are taking Bagley.
Anything goes after that. Trades could be really interesting because a lot of teams think they can move down a few spots and still get their guy.

I saw on Phx-Suns.net where Superbone (who also posts here) had posted quotes he heard from a Casey Jacobsen interview where Casey (who had an extensive successful career in Europe, BTW) said he believed Doncic was going to struggle to make the transition from European competition to the NBA because the difference in the quality of athletes was so substantial. To which, the response from other posters there ranged from "what does Casey Jacobsen know" to it's all a plot to make Doncic sound less appealing so Suns fans won't riot when the Suns take Ayton instead.

This is what I am talking about.

I would guess that Bamba or maybe Jackson goes third and the next three picks are Jackson, Doncic and Porter in some order.

He's more athletic.

I don't know if he has the defensive chops, but if I were to look for his top end I'd think of Thunder Dan.
Rex was one of the most athletic players in the league at the time. He had a 40 inch vert. Rex was more athletic than Majerle by a lot.

I see a lot of Majerle in Donte, too. Maybe a combo of Dan and Hornacek, if he reaches his potential. That wouldn't be bad at all at 16.

That is true - a lot of people forget that Chapman was a leaper.

That would be an awful bet. Vlade isn’t passing on the next Euro prodigy.

Kings fans have already bought his jersey.

This draft will really start at #3. I think most people have known since the lottery night that it’s #1 Ayton, #2 Doncic and then it goes from there.

Bagley could easily go in the top 2 and I expect he will.

I think he will pass. He needs a big who scores. Bagley is the perfect fit for that team. He already has Fox at pg and Bogdan at sg.

So is this pretty much Doncic=random white guys from the past?

Listen to do the stuff this kid is doing at his height and age is pretty unheard of. Euro league is the second best pro league on the planet and he's a monster he Gots stuff you can't teach just his feel for the game his vision, his touch.

You don't need to be a freak athlete to have success in the NBA if that was the case Eric Bledsoe would be an all star. James Harden does this super freaky thing where he slows himself down to get into the lane.

Doncic will be just fine.

Just because they had Fox who struggled as a rookie doesn’t mean they will pass on a far better prospect in Doncic.

I mean, imagine if the Sixers had passed on Embiid because they drafted Noel the previous year. Would’ve been crazy.

I get it that agents and teams need to put word out so that things get interesting or work favorably for them draft time but I think the top 2 of the draft was decided weeks ago.
I actually think there is a really good chance that Doncic will be on the board at #4. You are arguing for what they SHOULD do, I am telling you what I think they WILL do. The Kings are not the Sixers. Doncic is sliding. I am sure.

The mocks seem to be reflecting it too, but I would still be where I am with my opinion even if they were not. nbadraft.net has moved Doncic to 5. Tankathon has him at 3. CNNSI has him at #4.

Not only this, but I do think the Memphis pick will be up for sale. They want to compete immediately. Now, maybe they think Doncic fills that bill and draft him. If I was them, that is what I would do. But a trade could be done, but they would have to get a decently producing player back.

I would love for the Suns to make a move for that pick, but we do not have the effective vets that they would want to part with for it. TJ would be the only player, and I just don't think he would move the needle enough (along with picks etc). If they thought that Tyson has something in the tank, maybe. But I think the whole league knows that Tyson is already halfway retired.

I would be amazing. With all the draft busts and misses in any NBA draft, it's great to get a really good role player in the middle of the 1st round.

Right now I want Ayton and a trade up to get Doncic/Young, but my #2 scenario is taking the Big Ragu at 16. I see too many projects that have high bust potential, but I'm certain that Big Ragu will at least be a good shooter off the bench. The core of Booker, Jackson, and Ayton will need more shooters on the wings, and Big Ragu can provide that.

It sounds like smoke screens which is what the draft season is well known for.

You also have to remember this is the Kings. Vlade has no power at all the word around the campfire is the owner likes Porter Jr.

Vlade even came out and said he had better offers for Cousins, but the owner wanted Heild so he was forced to do that deal. Look up the Stauskis video it's pretty much the owner in the war room telling them they are gonna draft Stauskis.

I agree grab the best shooter on the board

No I’m not, I’m telling you what I think WILL do.

I have family in the Sacramento and their all prepared for Doncic because the team and the local media has hyped him up enough for them. The actual insiders and media trustworthy people within the Kings apparently all know Doncic is the pick already.

Vlade isn’t traveling all the way to Europe multiple times if it’s not to draft Doncic. Vivek’s son isn’t posting pics with Doncic on Instagram if it’s not to draft Doncic.

Trust me, I wish Luka somehow dropped in the draft and Suns maybe had a chance to trade up for him but it’s not happening.

Yep.

They're going to take whoever Vivek wants and, when it comes to basketball, Vivek is an imbecile. They could take Porter... Bagley... they could trade it for some random play Vivek has a crush on. There is no telling what that bonehead will do.

One thing that happens every year. Teams leak b.s. to the media left and right about this guy dropping or soaring on their board.

Media and fans eat it up second guessing everything. Then nine times out of ten it’s predictable.

For the sake of fun I hope not!
This is what's happening with all this Doncic dropping stuff. Some of the gullible ones are believing it.

I really think that Doncic is going to be completely unexceptional in the NBA ... I think he basically ends up as either a good passing, under-sized power forward, or a bulky, slow swing SG/wing.
But with two Small Forward on the roster, Doncic, as a rookie, would be third in line. The leader of our team is a Shooting Guard. And an undersized Power Forward? No, he is not a Power Forward. You didn't mention Point Guard and I agree. He is not a Point Guard, whether he wants to give it a try or not. And he is certainly not a top pick to be chosen over a generational Center.

All he is is the Coach's boy. That would so typical of the Suns of the past 50 years. But with Centers and Power Forwards prevalent at the top of this draft . . . Doncic -- no! This is the Phoenix Suns start of a new half-century. The only benefit to looking back is what not to do.
