Looks like the Suns are planning on carrying a third point guard this season. It won't be Scottie Reynolds as some have hoped since he'll be playing overseas, but both Matt Janning and Zabian Dowdell received camp invites and will be competing for the spot. Janning looked impressive in the summer league and received a partially guaranteed multi-year contract, but he's not really a true point guard. Chucky Atkins has also been participating in the informal workouts and may join camp. He could bring veteran leadership and experience that both Janning and Dowdell lack.
But whomever the Suns keep for the regular season likely won't be part of the 12-man active roster often, unless there are injuries. There wouldn't be any minutes or a roster spot available otherwise. Dragic will likely see more minutes this season, and both Hill and newly acquired Turkoglu are capable of running the team when Nash is resting.
So who will or should make the team? And will that player ever get off the bench?
