Funny how you show your intelligence by pluralizing an entire fan base based on your limited anecdotal experiences. C'mon Chap, you're better than this.

Much like football at UofA, college basketball is merely a nice distraction until football heats up for ASU fans. It's exactly why neither ASU Hoops or UA Football will ever be truly great - not enough people care and those that do have too low of expecations.

That argument doesn't hold ANY water... College programs are CONSTANTLY changing, and though it doesn't happend over night, a college program CAN change..

It just takes time, and in the case of ASU, yeah they aren't at the level where a lot of people hope they will be, but its progress.... And little by little, year by year, ENTIREprograms can change... Now Am I saying this is what will happend to ASU... maybe/maybe not, but to give the argument that it WON'T happend because people don't care enough, it not accurate...

Cleveland St just made it a little tougher for UofA to get into the tournament.

Why does a Kansas fan harbor such hatred of UA? I don't get it.

1997 will always hurt, plus we've had some interesting match-ups since then. I certainly wouldn't call it hatred, though. UofA has the current longest NCAA appearance streak and KU is second on that list. I'd like us to be first of course just for bragging rights.

I don't like tha 'cuse either, but both are far below Mizzou, K-State, or even Incy

You're right, and I apologize Chris. But that's not for Syracuse, who confirmed my suspicion that he's just a kid.

I will say that ASU fans really have a lot to be thankful for as far as basketball this year. And they might be good this year, but to compare 25 years of dominate basketball in the state of Arizona to one good year at ASU is ludicrous. Any free-thinking rational person would agree with that, homer or no.

Look at reality. Nobody on this board has claimed that UofA is better this year than ASU, yet kids like Syracuse come on here and spout hatred with no basis in historical fact. ASU is having a great year, that's a fact, no matter how much we hate to admit it. But it's only one great year. We're probably going to be awful next year, but our down years won't be that long. And as a basketball fan, I would guess that ASU's good years won't be that long either--but anything is possible. Historically, ASU just isn't a basketball school, never was.

Don't worry about it. Regardless of what happens today a few things are true...

1. The most important thing in the world of Arizona Atheltics is who they hire as a coach in a few weeks. A distant second is whether or not this team can become first weekend Tournament fodder because the Streak ends short of UNC next year anyways.

2. ASU and Arizona will both be pretty bad basketball teams next year and probably won't be any better than mediocre the following. There's too much fringe Pac-10 talent on the roster and recruiting misses for both schools to overcome.

3. Arizona will hire a proven HC who has either been in the Final Four or a younger proven HC whose teams at lesser programs have fallen just short.

4. Arizona will have a top 15 recruiting class in 2010 locked up by the end of the summer.

5. If Herb stays at ASU he will have the Devils somewhere between 3th-7th in the Pac-10 every year for as long as he stays.

6. There is a power vacuum in the Pac10 behind UCLA just as there is in football behind USC, only the Bruins don't quite have quite as strong of strangehold as the Trojans.

7. Arizona will sell out all it's home games next year, ASU's attendance will decrease drastically.

8. The entire Pac-10 is going to be very down next year assuming the guys everyone assumes will go end up in the NBA.

Let's enjoy the game today and whatever else games Chase, Nic, And Jordan have left whether it's the NIT or NCAA's as they all have been great Wildcats and deserved better than the raw deal they got from all of us at the UofA. I really hope they get in, they've worked their butts off to become very good players in a very bad situation and even a one and done would be a nice reward.

But let's also keep our eyes on the big picture here and remember that Arizona Basketball judges itself on winning championships. With that goal in mind the coaching search is the biggest news of the offseason and rightfully deserves most of our attention.

Ironically, I think this year's team has a better resume than last year's. Unfortunately, they picked a bad time to go in the tank because the committee factors in how teams finish the season.

Well now that Iowa, Iowa State, and now UofA has no shot at getting in, I'll cheer for ASwho! :p

That way they're bound to be a quick out.
