I don't think I'd trade him now that Porter is gone.

Remember Shaq is 2x better this year than last year, so it's the same Dantoni offense in a way with Gentry only we've added richardson, barbosa seems to have picked up some stronger game, and Shaq is much better physically, not to mention his FT's.

Update says a deal is not close and is very unlikely. Idk about Wallace in this offense.

Ben Wallace is owed 14 Million next year. So the Suns would save 6 million. I'm not sure this would put them under the LT or not. But the guy's production is pretty bad, 3.1 pts & 6 Reb in 24 minutes. He's also 34 years old.

If the Suns hold tight I think they could land Wally instead if the Cavs feel Shaq helps them for the next two seasons.

Ben Wallace's contract doesnt make much sense to take on, but moving Shaq would definitely make Amare happy and cuts payroll to make Sarver happy.

From Yahoo Sports
Shaq may be bound for Cleveland

By Adrian Wojnarowski and Johnny Ludden, Yahoo! Sports 6 hours, 7 minutes ago

The Phoenix Suns are discussing a potential trade with the Cleveland Cavaliers which would pair Shaquille O’Neal with LeBron James for a run at the NBA title, two NBA executives familiar with the talks said Thursday morning.
In return, the Cavaliers would send Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic to the Suns.
No deal is imminent, but sources say the two teams have been talking about the potential trade for two days now. A Cavs official didn’t deny the talks but said the team was leaning against making a move.
NBA distributes financial warning The NBA sent out an ominous memo to its teams on the eve of the league’s trade deadline to outline dramatic projected drops in salary-cap and luxury-tax levels for the next two summers, Yahoo! Sports has learned.
Because of rapidly declining revenues, the league office delivered a sobering warning to teams trying to free cap space for the historic free-agent class of 2010: Owners and executives will likely have to strip more payroll than initially planned
.
Here is a (link) to the full text with a blurb about Stoudemire as well as other rumors around the league.

Both Wallace and Sasha have 2 years left on contract like Shaq, but their contracts total up to $19 million, a savings of $2 million from Shaq.

Boy, if CLE would give up Wally and Pavlovik, you have to do that deal financially. You'd save $19.5M next year PLUS the luxury tax implications of another $4M or so.

Wally and Pavlovic for Shaq would leave us terribly thin up front. We had better hope Sims has some game. We'd almost have to take back Wallace instead.

This seems odd from the Cavs point of view, what would they do with Big Z? Shaq won't ride the pine and I can't imagine you starting them both. Weird.

EDIT: Also I'd wonder if the Suns could get Darnell Jackson back in the deal to help with front court depth. Talent wise the Suns are getting hosed in this deal and really helping the Cavs, so Kerr should push for Clevelands 2010 1st rounder since Kerr so foolishly got rid of our own.

Well they do start both Big Z and Big Ben right now, so who knows...

Sarver of all people went on the air and said that the Suns don't have to make anymore salary cutting moves THIS year. Next year we will definitely have to.

Bad idea for the Suns. They need O'Neal's ability to score, and Wallace is a worse free-throw shooter than O'Neal has ever been.

What could we do next year aside from trading Barbosa to a team with cap space? Expiring contracts that we get in the offseason will be no more beneficial than Shaq's. We have a team option on Nash. Maybe we can exercise it and extend him two or three years at a contract comparable to an MLE so he can recoop the $13 million that he is slated to make next year. It's going to be interesting.

if Shaq has a say in this trade...he will most likely say no because he doesn't like playing in the cold climate lol. I know it sounds utterly ridiculous but its true, being a shaq fan I can say he has always wanted to play in warm destinations.

Supposedly the latest is that this rumored deal is actually a 3 way deal with a yet undisclosed team because Cleveland does not have the pieces to make a trade happen. Meaning that it probably adds credibility to Sarvers stance that he will not trade players just to shed salary this season.

If Shaq goes...IMO....it's to get some young players or talent back this year.
