At the end, who was having the zombie flashes? Rick or dead Shane?

Shane will be a big loss for the series, but the tension between Rick and him had run its course and reached the breaking point. There was no way they could continue together. It's too bad Shane wasn't content with the blonde chick. She's better looking and less annoying than Rick's wife. I do look forward to the new antagonists that they develop to drive the series forward.

The biggest thing that bothered me about the episode was Shane and Rick's proximity to the farm during the standoff. It seemed as if they were miles from the farm during their search, but they pan out and they are somehow within a few 100 yds. And what's with Karl's mom not being able to keep track of their dang kid? She has got to be the worst mother in the world.

It had to happen though. To forward the upcoming story(apparently featuring the governor) this had to happen.

Shane was the spark plug for the show. It'll be difficult to keep up this pace now that he's gone. Pretty cool episode. I did hate the whole cliche of the kid at the end--point the gun at daddy, then shoot the zombie (and the kid has just as good of marksmanship as world-class marksmen, apparently). I mean, as soon as the kid had the gun, I knew the cliche was going to happen.

My own personal theory on the show-

Everyone is infected. The virus lies dormant until you die.

May not be airborne, could be in the water or food.

The zombie flashes were the virus linking Shane to other zombies near by. Kind of like a hive mind scenario.

This is the way I see until I don't...

I like that theory. Sort of Explains the herd scene when they were on the highway.

Was out of town this week and finally got a chance to watch and this episode exemplifies why I find this show so frustrating. The 2nd half of the episode was probably the best they have done, so why can't they keep up a similar quality? It doesn't have to match that high of quality but they are across the board so much it is annoying.

I hope they have a bloodbath at the end of next week's episode so they can bring in some new more interesting characters that will improve the quality of the show. The only one's I'd like to see stay alive are Rick, Daryl, Glenn, and Maggie.

Don't forget Carl.

The show wouldn't be the same without his horrible acting and ability to ruin every scene he's in.

Season finale was so freaking awesome. Rick's transformation in the last 15 minutes was awesome. I'm so pumped for season 3.

I wonder if T-Dogg had a hard time remembering his lines. This had to be the most words he has spoken in the entire run of the show.

interesting. I was bored to tears by the finale.

I'm somewhere in between you two guys. The finale had its moments but the show is still so bumpy. I will give it a third season to pull me in because of the switch in show-runners this year and the introduction of a few new pieces that seem intriguing. I am mainly glad they are finally off that stupid farm and can maybe move the story forward.

I'll mention it again because I am still so confused by it, what type of time frame has this show been working in? Has it been a month since Rick got out of the hospital? 5 years? Time does not seem to exist here. For example the kid got his leg impaled and they said he may never walk again but the next episode they were talking about leaving him somewhere with some supplies to fend for himself. Did they take 6 months to let him recover? Lori is supposedly pregnant but is yet to show but experiences no side effects to the pregnancy. Just so confusing.

Don't forget that Carl went from being shot and close to death if they didn't get the right equipment to do the surgery to him up, walking around, and eventually getting other members killed.

I think AMC needs a longer season. It seems to me every time the show hits a stride the season is over.

If you didnt like the farm, I cant imagine liking the "hunker down on the ole prison" set up for next season. Zombies-being-plausible-in-the-first-place believability aside, once that is a given, there is still so much nonsense to wade through. I thought the first half of the finale was awesome, and the second half was a total snooze fest. Too bad they didnt kill the wife and kid.

One of the best parts was the introduction of this comic book like hooded zombie hunter charater. Totaly over the top, totally hilarious. If they go campy, Im fine with it, because this show is simply a 60 minute diversion for me every week. Never followed the novel, but IM enjoying being able to shut down the ole noggin for an hour a week.

The critic in me however, cannot ignore some of the weaknesses this show has.

One thing that has been bothering me:
Why does Rick have a lighter? He doesn't smoke. No one in the group smokes. I guess he has a Batman utility-belt that has everything he needs?

I'm sure they would have come across plenty of lighters while scavenging. It's definitely something I'd pick up and keep if I was in their situation.

I think we would have seen them at one point over 20 episodes. I could see them keeping them in the house but there was no reason to keep it in your pocket all this time.

Actually that'd be one of the main things I'd carry at all times.

Hershel just recently let them live in the house so they've basically been camping the entire time. Seems like a lighter would be a sensible thing to keep on you in that situation. Especially for Rick who seems to be a Boy Scout, "always be prepared" type of guy.
