I feel like more than anything with this show that what's hampering it at this point is that there's simply no end-game. There's no drive toward anything but... survival and there's only so many times you can tell that tale of surviving over another group of humans before it just gets beyond stale. I mean, they are going to drag out the Saviors story-line over THREE seasons at this point, starting in Season 6, all through Season 7 and we already know Negan's going to be in Season 8. That's just too freaking long for me... especially since Negan freaking sucks as a character.

If they follow the comic, the Saviors won't be dragged out. That is all I will say on that without spoilers, but it will get interesting.

The Saviors fall, Negan is captured and brain washes Carl to set up Carl vs. Rick.

I think one of the writers is a big Mad Max fan.

Yeah, that much was obvious... or an old Planet Of The Apes fan. That scene and the music was very reminiscent of 70's and early 80's sci fi.

I just checked on the timelines for the show, and it seems as though the consensus is that these events are about two years after the outbreak - even a bit less. This isn't at all long enough for those speech patters to emerge - this group sounds like they're from Russell Hoban's Ridley Walker. "Show him 'Up, Up, Up'"?

There's got to be another explanation or we just won't get one. But then, how weird is it that we have a character named "Jadis" two years after the apocalypse if we already have one named "Negan." (The Saviors, forced as it is, at least sounds like a biker gang.)

I'm confused on your point with how the names are weird, those people were born way before the apocalypse?

I would think there is no way it has only been two years, Judith alone shows that. The initial seasons revolved around skipping the winter implying that a year had gone by each time. I was assuming we were 4-6 years in rather than two.

However if Lori got pregnant a few months into the apocalypse, you had Judith being born roughly a year in. Now Judith would be about 2-3 so by that timeline, it should be about 3-4 years.

Speaking of, who is watching Judith? I cant believe that baby is still alive.

Totally agree. When they were trying to get the Mullet to DC or wherever to cure the disease, this show had a direction. Ever since the Mullet turned out to be a charlatan this show has become a stale rehash of the same formula. Oh and that formula had gotten more ludicrous with each new group they meet.

Walking Dead star slams T-shirt controversy: ‘People are stupid’

http://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/news/wa...rsy-‘people-are-stupid’/ar-AAngppf?li=BBnb7Kz

Jeffrey Dean Morgan is shocked and stunned by The Walking Dead T-shirt controversy — shocked and stunned, that is, that anybody would find the shirt controversial in the first place.

To recap: U.K. department chain Primark pulled from its stores a Walking Dead T-shirt that a customer complained was “racist” and “offensive.”

The shirt featured Negan’s signature Lucille baseball bat and his victim-selecting rhyme “Eeny meeny miny moe, catch a tiger by the toe…” The problem? About 100 years ago, that rhyme commonly used the n-word instead of “tiger.”

Morgan, sounding not entirely unlike his irate profane character on TV’s top-rated drama, tweeted:

Do we know these were their names before? Anyone could have changed their name in the new world. Seems fishy that Rick encounters a new group and the first three names we learn are "Jadis," "Tamiel," and "Brion."

But my point is actually just that I think they've brought in a motif from other post-apocalyptic fiction that doesn't quite fit yet.

Good catch on Judith, though. I read an article that broke down the timeline and didn't account for that. Seems like it must be 3-4 years. And then there's the fact that the actor who plays Carl has clearly aged more than 3 years in real life, so that makes it seem longer.

I was thinking 7 years until I made that post. I'm sure the comic and the show will be off in timeline too just because of the humans playing parts

Almost an entire episode centered around Eugene. I personally can't stand Eugene but at least the episode wasn't utter garbage like several of the more recent ones.

it was just as much centered around Dwight, it was great episode.

Just not sure what the whole metal-encased walker think is supposed to really accomplish

Good twist about the girls and their intentions. At this point I no longer think Dwight turns on negan however I think Eugene's loyalty is a sham. Not too much to discuss beyond that though. The doctor in the incenerator was pretty cool

Word.

I think Eugene and Dwight still could go any way at this point. My buddy driving to work mentioned the beer and pretzels like maybe he was ready to run away with his wife and since she wasnt there, he turned back.

When he then flipped on the DR, I assume he is permanently Negan.

remember when he was reading that letter she left.... she mentioned a time way back when he told her if they were ever separated...meet there,...and he would bring beer and pretzels.... but then she speculated he would forget and was too far gone as negan....

IMO the beer and pretzels showed that he never forgot and symbolized that he was not fully negan.... then he went back and lied to negan about her death

And Dwight also set up the Doc so that Negan wouldn't blame the wife for letting Daryl escape. I'm pretty sure Dwight is gonna turn.

I also think Eugene is playing his cards well.

but he could have said she freed him, he killed her. Instead of he killed her, doctor freed him. Killing the DR seemed to signify that he was negan however maybe he was ridding for one DR who was negan for a DR who isnt.
