My best friend is a big X-files fan and I know he's been waiting for a second movie for a while now.

You know what would be great? What if the studio gave the green light for X-Files 2 and then Duchovney backed out so that they had to hire another actor to play Mulder? Maybe some guy like Josh Hartnett?

Man, that would be funny!

The 43-year-old star quit the TV show before it was cancelled, but said he was keen to play Mulder again. "I think it would be fun at this point, a few years removed, to get back into it and do it."

Hm, how about the season 10 of the X- files?

Straight from the horses mouth herself:

"It does indeed appear that the XF movie will be underway in the next year but a lot has to happen between now and then and a lot can happen between now and then. But it looks promising. Chris does not want to reveal at this point who or what will be in it but I got the impression it's going to be one scary mother."

Slowly but surely this thing is coming into place...

The X-Files to be Opened Up Soon Again?
Source: IESB , Moviehole
Saturday, September 11, 2004

There's a few interesting new developments on The X-Files 2 which may indicate that the sequel is closer than we thought. First up, the TV series star Robert Patrick tells IESB that his role is part of the film.

"We have the X-Files movie coming up soon and I can't wait to reprise my role of John Dogget once again," says Patrick.

Meanwhile, Moviehole has posted the rumor that the film, which would likely see David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson returning as well, now has a finished script, a director attached, and a filming start date at the end of the year.

:barf:

I don't mind seeing Doggett - in fact after watching Season 9 again, I kind of like him and wish he'd have gotten some more air time.

But the fact that he MIGHT/IS going to be in the movie makes this movie post-season 7 which means a few things:

*A pregnant Scully
*William
*Mulder abducted
*Super soldiers
*Monica "Moronica" Reyes
*Krycek is dead :( (unless its pre-"Existence")

This sucks. I wanted a MOTW type movie. But now if Doggett is in it, then they are going to have to explain who he is and why he's important.. thus probably making it a Mythology Ep. I guess they could still do a MOTW episode, but they just made it harder for themsleves.

Oh well. I am just happy that there's even going to be a 2nd movie. LONG LIVE THE X-FILES!

Patrick Reconfirms X-Files 2 Interest
Source: Houston Chronicle
October 10, 2004

Terminator 2: Judgment Day and The X-Files TV star Robert Patrick has reconfirmed to the Houston Chronicle that he's interested in participating in the The X-Files 2 feature.

One part he didn't have to work too hard for was John Doggett, his character in the final two seasons of TV's The X-Files" Rumors persist that series creator Chris Carter is looking into another X-Files movie, something Patrick would welcome.

"I love that character," Patrick said. "For the record, I loved doing The X-Files. It wasn't my idea to let that show go. ... I thought that we were still doing well enough to keep it on the air."

If there is a movie "and they ask me to come back, I'm there."

I would love for Robert to be in the X-Files again... in fact, he was the lone bright spot during the 8th and 9th seasons. But that means the movie would be post season 7 and I think that creates a lot of problems. But anyway.

I still think season 8 and 9 sucked (comparing them to the previous seasons) but from just looking at those two season alone, he was awesome. John Doe was one of my favorites thus far.

Anyway, I just want a frickin movie. Ugh.

Chris Carter reveals more about what's going on with The X-Files sequel

Source: SFX Magazine
November 17th, 2004

Chris Carter recently gave an interview to SFX Magazine in which he revealed the current status of the proposed X-Files sequel...

Mulder and Scully may soon have a chance to flash their fabled torches on our contemporary fears. Carter is currently prepping a second big screen outing for the duo.

"We are in negotiations right now. And because it's a sequel, there are peculiar and specific kinds of negotiations that are holding us up. I think that there's an appetite for it, but I think that it's got to be good. People won't just go and see anything. Whatever happens, I'm going to do something good that people will want to go and see regardless."

And what story is he tempted to tell? Carter laughs, cagily. "Not a mythology one, for sure!"

PRAISE JESUS... all is good with the world once again.

DD is a doing a movie right now, so who knows that will last. Maybe this summer production can start. I really want an X-Files movie so bad.

The entire X-Files fandom needs this to happen.

Hey 32,
have you ever run across those Asian import DVD sets of X Files? They sell every season 1-9 on eBay for only $100. I'm thinkin of buying a set, since I've never really watched the show.

i have run across them and let me tell you they are a piece of sh*t.

The quality can range from excellent to poor. There are asian subtitles, and it's Region 0, not Region 1 (even though Region 0 plays in US/Canada dvd players).

To be honest, It's not worth the 100 bucks. You can always buy the US Versions for like 40 bucks a pop (they are getting cheaper and cheaper now).
9x40= 360

So if you have 400 bucks to drop on some damn good entertainment, I'd say it's worth it. But if you only got 100 bucks and you'll deal with the poor Asian quality discs, then go for it.

Either way I think it's cool that you're getting the DVD's. :)

Gotta disagree with you Kate. Sure, the quality is a bit suspect at times, but the point is that you get every episode that's on the US version.

The packaging is different (not nearly as sturdy), and the fact that they have Asian subs is irrelevant, you can simply turn them off. The region coding doesn't matter either.

The fact of the matter is that the DVDs are actually very similar--almost identical in some instances. The thing is, most of the people that would want to actually buy season sets of the X-Files would most likely go with the American versions because the presentation is so much better--and they are likely to be collectors.
