Selling:

Can K9 ever manage to get through a thread without taking a swipe at Rod Graves ?

Selling:

Can Graves ever be talked about negatively without Nidan defending him ?

Sorry, Nidan had to do it.

Selling:
Elton Brown for a 1970 pinto with no tires.

I am an idiot for buying Vonage, the biggest rip off since the Cardinals 2003 season that was highlighted by a 44-6 butt whooping by the Browns.

Selling:
My ability to spell, and my grammar skills

Buying: Russ Grimm's smash-mouth OL and the more physical approach will make our skill players even more dangerous.

Buying: Matt Leinart developing into one of the best QBs in the league.

Selling: Pope becoming a good TE. Pope will start and probably be adequate starter, but we never be a solid starter.

Selling: Antrel Rolle as a #1 CB. Rolle with never be a great CB, but could become an awesome FS.

Selling: BB as a 3-4 OLB.

Buying: Okeafor as a 3-4 OLB.

Buying: Wells at LG.

Selling: Gandy at LT.

But then again k9, you love to play the devils advocate.

As to "what do people know about the Cardinals living 1600 miles away, living on the east coast"....it's more than 1600 miles from anywhere on the east coast to Phoenix, just an FYI)....but I was a season ticket holder when I lived in Scottsdale (1989-2002) and have followed this team since the days of Sam Etchevery.....any idea as to who he was...or were you not born than?

K9, did you really say that? I've never known you to be anti-out of towner.

Meh, don't worry Phillycard we know we are good fans, and have a great knowledge of the Cardinal's TEAM.

I can't say I know much about the desert, or the politics in the local townships concerning the team and I try to never talk about or give an opinion about things like that since I know nothing about it.

Anyone ever questions my loyalty I just tell them about all the Cardinals vs Giants/Jets, and Cardinals vs Eagles games I go to.

Not to mention my only vacation since I have been out of college was spent traveling to Texas to see the Cardinals vs. Texans.

Furthermore, I cannot wait to go out to Arizona and see them on the home turf.

That and the $200+ beans I throw down per year to watch all their games.

Selling: People who hate on there own kind.

NOTE: K9 in the next few threads says he likes out of towners.

Buying: Fans are fans.

I'm not. I'm a little befuddled by people living on the east coast commenting on the development of Cardinal players or the atmosphere on Hardy Drive when there's no possible way they can be witness to such.

Personally, I love out of town fans. I have tons of love for every poster here who flies out for a game, or invested $200+ for DirecTV so that s/he can watch a really bad product when they could just as easily watch real football games on another channel.

I'm just skeptical when someone in Charlotte or Foxborough or wherever posts that "Qasim Mitchell is in the best shape of his career and is ready to compete for a starting job."

Reggie Wells is a starter, and we may be stuck with his contract, as well (an underrated mistake by Rod Graves is placing the wrong tender on Reggie Wells in the 2006 offseason). That's eight players.

to be fair -- even if they did put the right tender on him last offseason -- he likely would have signed the one year deal, and then have been a free agent this past offseason -- where the money for offensive linemen was a little nutty.

That would have left the Cardinals facing the prospect of either a bigger contract for Reggie than the current one, or finding his replacement.

As much as some on the board like to bag on him, two offensive line coaches in a row have come here and concluded that he is a pretty good offensive lineman -- and -- Buffalo decided to throw big money at him last offseason. While neither of those things are guarantees that he is good, they do have more credibility than the opinions of message board posters.

More Buying and Selling

Buying: Ken Whisenhunt as head coach of the Arizona Cardinals. Like a new car, the value immediately depreciates after purchase, but could be a solid long-term investment.

Selling: Russ Grimm as Assistant Head Coach of the Arizona Cardinals. The sheen will be on him even if the Cards' OL struggles, as long as the Steelers' OL struggles, as well. Is the early frontrunner for 2008 HC openings.

Buying: 3-4 Defense assistant coaches. Look at the coaching rosters in Dallas, Miami, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, San Diego, and maybe even San Francisco. We'll be drawing from that pool very soon. If Tomlin secures his job with a positive 2007, look closely at Dick LeBeau.

Selling: Clancy Pendergast as DC. His defenses have underperformed despite infusions of talent. He couldn't stand up to his superiors (Denny Green) or his inferiors (Richard Solomon). He's a lame duck for a head coach that has no loyalty to him.

Buying: Shane Boyd as training camp All-Pro. For some reason, the local hacks are loving Boyd, and we'll hear a lot about him through the summer.

Selling: Shane Boyd as NFL-caliber quarterback. When the lights come on, Boyd shows his true colors. Think of him as an offensive Calvin Pace.

Buying: Calvin Pace's roster spot. He's in a contract year and could collect 4 to 6 sacks as a 3rd OLB as long as he's protected by good DE play.

Selling: Brandon Johnson's roster spot. Where would you line this guy up? He was only active for 3 games as a rookie. The Cards will likely sneak him onto the practice squad.

Buying: Alan Branch at defensive end. If he can maintain his discipline and conditioning, Branch has far more value at DE than he does at NT in this defensive scheme. Watson and Clancy should be able to hold down the fort occupying blockers. Let Branch split some double-teams and collect 3-4 sacks every season.

Selling: Gerald Hayes's ability to stay healthy. He really came on at the beginning of last season, but I wonder if his health isn't the reason he fell in the draft despite a productive career at Pitt. He'll be even less protected in the 3-4 scheme.

Buying: Monty Beisel's value to the Arizona Cardinals. Buster Davis likely will make his main contributions on special teams for his rookie season. Beisel's familiarity with 3-4 concept from his time in New England and his ability to drop into coverage will be huge advantages for him.

Selling: Undrafted free agents making the 53-man roster. I just don't see it coming together for a lot of these guys. They're camp fodder, for the most part. All those fullbacks are going to help our RBs learn how to run behind them, but we only need one.

Do you actually go to hardy drive or are you just reading the forum, internet and tv stuff he is reading? It's not like you exit your house in the morning and can feel the energy from Warner and Hardy, we are just as distanced as he is.

But I don't comment on the atmosphere at Warner and Hardy for that very reason. I'll say what I think we should expect from players, or comment on someone else's opinion. I think that's totally in-bounds. But I think to assert insider knowledge makes as little sense as posters drawing conclusions about a player's mental state from his body language following an incomplete pass on 3rd and 8.

I'd just like to know where assertions like "Darnell Dockett is ready to take the reins of defensive leadership from Bertrand Berry" really come from...

I get it. I'm cool with the track you're laying down.

By the way, judging from the way Kurt Warner's slightly-curved incisor tooth is gleaming, he'll be ready to not only back up, but to even challenge for the starting job. As outside Linebacker. At least that's the breeze blowing in from good ole' Laurel Hardy Drive.

Hate to see this thread get buried

Bump for an All NFL Buying and Selling Post!

Buying: Carson Palmer as AFC MVP. His mechanics will improve and his offensive line will be better than last season's. His defense should improve, as well. Watch out for the Bengals in 2007.

Selling: The New York Jets repeating in the playoffs. This team will erase the mark of the 1998 Arizona Cardinals as the worst playoff team ever. They define the word "fluke".

Buying: Byron Leftwich for Comeback Player of the Year. He knows that he's The Man in Jacksonville this season and his weapons are finally starting to mature.

Selling: Vince Young's continuing development. The Titans really needed to get this young man some weapons on the outside. They don't have the running threat that they did last season, and teams aren't going to overlook the Titans next year.

Buying: A resurgent Philadelphia Eagles. I think they win the division and #1 seed going away. Dallas I think will slump some because it's possible Parcells' aggresiveness drove them to win. New York will earn a wild card spot.

Selling: The Buffalo Bills. Ugh, I don't know what Marv Levy and Dick Jauron are thinking up there. I like their offense, but their defense scares the bejeezus out of me.

Buying: David Carr as starting quarterback in the playoffs. I really, really like Carolina's roster, and I think that Jake Delhomme may come down with a "nagging injury" midway through the season, and Carr's star will really rise.

Selling: The Kansas City Chiefs' window of opportunity. Larry Johnson can't tote the rock 400+ times again this season. Their offensive line is a mess. I think that Johnson, Croyle, and Bowe can become a good offensive corps, but by the time they do, their defense is going to be mostly retired.

Good idea!

Selling: NE is going to the Superbowl. I will give them A.Thomas. That was a good pick up. Dante Stallworth, Randy Moss, Kelly Washington, and ?.Walker are more hype than anything. Moss will return to his old ways, Stallworth is the definition of a hot/cold player, Kelly Washington is not even as good as Bryant Johnson, and Wes Walker is a one hit wonder. With the defense getting older and older at LB and they still have questions about the secondary AND Asante Samuels is not happy.

Buying: Brady Quinn being an NFL quarterback. I look for Cleveland to have a similar season to us last year. They have the weapons in offense. The defense is solid. Quinn will bring the leadership and never say die attitude that Leinart gave us last year and utilize K2, and Braylon Edwards. The question is even if Cleveland improves as a team can Romeo survive another 5 ot 6 win season.

Selling: LaMont Jordan will lose his starting RB role. Jordan is a very good back behind a miserable OL. If the OL improves Jordan improves ala E.James here in the desert. D.Rhodes, and Michael Bush are not (Bush = at least not now) in Jordan's league.

Buying: Travis Henry will have a MONSTER year.

Buying: Matt Leinart and Jay Cutler developing into premier QBs

Selling: Vince Young as a premier QB.

Buying: The Denver Broncos. If Cutler takes it to the next level, the Broncos is the most complete team in the league behind the Patriots.

Selling: The Chargers and Cowboys as elite team. Their new coaching staffs with result in learning year and dissapointing records.

Buying: The upgrades made by the 49'ers will result in improvement.

Selling: The upgrades made by the Browns and Bucs. The Browns still have too many holes. The Bucs are still old.

Buying: The Jets, 49'ers and Cardinals as teams on the rise.

Selling: The Titans, Giants and Jaguars as teams on the rise.

What I am selling:

Dallas as a Superbowl team, or even a top notch contender.

In the latest truth or rumors at CNNSI, it says the Jones Sr and Jr made it clear to any potential coach that TO had to get the ball.

Its pretty clear that Parcells said that either he or TO goes, and we know what Jerry picked.

The message has been sent to the team -- not only do the inmates run the asylum, but the absolute craziest one of them all is in charge.

Thats my take and I am sticking to it.

and as a follow up, from this morning's Dallas Morning News:

Absent Cowboys disrespect coach
Posted: Saturday June 02, 2007 07:50AM ET
If the Cowboys' Organized Team Activities weren't important, new coach Wade Phillips wouldn't have scheduled them. It's disrespectful that veterans like Terry Glenn, Julius Jones and Terrell Owens have skipped most of the limited-contact practices that can't last more than two hours. Besides, Glenn is the only member of that trio who played to his potential last year. Owens led the league in drops and complaints, and Jones was a nonfactor in the second half of the season
