Georgia Bulldogs offensive lineman Marques Easley is Georgia's third player that will enter the NCAA transfer portal this offseason. Easley, a redshirt sophomore, is a former four-star recruit. He appeared in two games during the 2024 college football season (UMass and Tennessee Tech).
The 6-foot-5, 325-pound offensive lineman was arrested in March for reckless driving and three counts of reckless conduct when he crashed into an Athens-area apartment complex. Following Easley's arrest, the University of Georgia suspended both him and wide receiver Nitro Tuggle, who was arrested in a separate driving incident.
Both Tuggle and Easley missed Georgia's spring game. Both players are entering the transfer portal.
"Yeah, disappointed obviously, in those two young men and the decision-making process for each one," said Smart when he asked about Tuggle and Easley's arrests during a spring practice media session. "You know, both of them are younger players and have made crucial mistakes."
Smart and Georgia had previously not suspended for driving incidents. The Bulldogs (football players and support staff) have had over 30 driving incidents since football player Devin Willock and support staffer Chandler LeCroy tragically passed away in a car accident on Jan. 15, 2023.
Easley joins Tuggle and running back Branson Robinson as UGA players to enter the transfer portal since the spring window opened on April 16.
