We are sooo close to the draft it is finally a reality! OK after all the talk, WHO are we gunna get. AND are they gunna beable to help, as a solid backup?

I love the draft but I admitt I dont watch college so I dont know who is anygood...

I am hoping for a solid BIG man. A guy who can maybe play as our small center OR as a PF when Amare is playing the center spot...

I honestly feel there in not much need for BIG centers anymore. All I really want is a Center that can rebound & Block shots, and hit a descent jumper from 10-15... But I know that isnt gunna happen at #17(could I be wrong?).

I kinda like David West, because he seems to be a well rounded player. A guy who can rebound, blockshots, score, and defend... I could see him playing some min's at PF with Amare playing alittle center at times...

I dont know much about this guy but that player nick named "Baby Shaq" seems to be a a project but with alot of upside...

Even those of us who have watched a fair amount of college basketball probably haven't seen many of the players that will be taken in the first round. They are predicting there will be possibly 12 international players in the first round.

i think that the suns are going to surprize a lot of people by taking Malick Badiane. there are a couple of reason why i believe that they will do this. over the last couple years one of the things that the suns have been saying about people is that they play with emotion or aggressively. alton ford is gone, googs is gone after this season and who knows what is going to happen with big jake after this season. i have read that this guy can hit the 15-18 footer very well. he is very good rebounder and shot blocker. the idea of someone taking it inside on him, amare and marion leads to a great chance of having spalding tattooed to your forehead. the idea of a new barkley and mahorn (big tough mean group to take it at anyone that comes inside) is what i think this group can be.

Malick Badiane, PF, Senegal
The line: 6-11, 225, 19 years old
Pronunciation Muh-leek Bahd-ee-en
The stats: 11.7 ppg and 8.9 rpg on 48 percent shooting
NBA comparison: Ben Wallace

The skinny: Badiane is a beast. He already has an NBA body and has tremendous strength. He's very long, but his frame is still muscular. He plays aggressively, and it pays off in rebounds and shot blocking. He runs the floor very well and is a good jumper. He has long arms and is known as a very hard worker. Offensively, he's much more raw, though his game is beginning to emerge. Several of the NBA's top African scouts feel he'll eventually become a force on the offensive end, as well. Of all of the young, African prospects to come to the NBA in the last 20 years, Badiane has the most offensive potential of any since Hakeem Olajuwon if you're willing to wait a few years

I like what I have heard about him, if he is a "Ben Wallace" type, then I say grab him fast...

But he looks to be to small for the center spot, is he a PF?

6'11" isnt small for center but his real problem maybe his wieght. right now he is around 235 and is 19 years old. centers really should be around 250 to 260 plus, but i can name to all time great centers that were under the 250 wieght. hakeem and david robinson, both of them were around 235. hakeem was only 6'10" the same as Zo. little jake is listed at 6'11" and 245. so this guys can do it on a fast (running line up).

I wouldn't hold your breath. It's one thing to play it cool talking about a prospect like Badiane, but Van Arsdale said flat out he wasn't ready to play in the NBA.

i will be the first to say that i dont have all the answers. but on the drafts that i have tried to pick who the suns would pick i have been very good since michael finley, wesley person, shawn marion, and amare stoudemire i have picked. have i been wrong yes i have and i maybe wrong this time. i am going away from what i think that the way the suns normally draft to pick this guy. why because i think he does fill needs and bring to the table what the suns have been trying to build around for the last couple years. a hard noise team that will play with emotion.

the suns management has been talking about this emotion, aggressive type of players since marbary came to town. and i believe that this is one of the big keys that they are looking for in their draft picks, and zarko, cook and collinson doesnt fit this. that is why i have picked this guy. also looking at the way that the suns did their draft last year give me idea on how may use disinformation to turn people away from their pick. most people thought that the suns were going to pick jared jefferies who is a player a lot like zarko.

also they have a need of a back up power forward after this year and maybe a back up center or starter. big jakes contract is up after this year same with googs. alton ford may not be back and what happens if cant resign little jake? amare is a great player but he is a power forward not a center. and he shouldnt be put at center.

I would also put Bo Outlaw as a guy who may not be around too much longer. Sure, he's a great locker room guy, but I could see him being traded........especially if we got a guy like Badaine. In fact, I could see us trading Outlaw to get a pick to take Badaine.
