Elvis is an RFA.

Our inability to get any pressure without resorting to 6-man blitzes should be apparent to even the most enthusiastic homer after yesterday's debacle.

It's a high price to pay, but can we draft or sign anyone else who could be a one-man pass rush? No. Demand is greater than supply and we'll have to pay out the nose. If Warner returns, though, we're literally one guy away, and that guy is an elite pass rusher. So maybe it's time to pay out the nose.

No more Travis LaBoy and Clark Haggans and Bert Berry and any other guy who's halfway to the glue factory. We need the real deal and we need it badly.

He's not a one year wonder. Tuck has been invisible this year. I say keep boldin and pay dumerville the house and make Denver match it.

man -- I just dont see Mike Bidwill paying more than Pat Bowlen. Sad but true.

I like your thinking though.

How about Boldin for Mathias Kiwanuka (Giants) straight up?

Giants havent been the same since Plax left, and they need a true #1 to lead all those young WRs they have. Giants have depth at the position. I would ask for Osi, but the Giants would laugh.

Denver is going to let him go as much as I would like the Cards to get him. Also, why would Denver need Boldin? they have Marshall and Royal

I don't think they will do that with Eddie Royal and Brandon Marshall on the roster. The teams to look at for Q are Miami and Baltimore in that order. I would include Chicago but they don't have the picks. Briggs maybe?

Those are the teams with the needs and potential ammunition to make a deal with us.

A team has to draft rush linebackers. usually teams don't let the go until they're done.

when is the last time we drafted one? Ken Harvey? We aren't very successful doing it. Didn't he have a pretty good career in washington? $$$ talks

Eh new era, new defensive scheme.

I'm done using the old days as a measuring stick.

Dumervil is an untouchable for Denver. He's the best rush linebacker they have by far and they'll get him for the cheap next year.

It'd be financially smarter just to draft one.

Financially smarter, yes. But would we draft anyone who would be remotely as good? I doubt it.

I like the idea of just offering him something ridiculous as an RFA. Make Denver match it or get him and surrender a draft pick.

I'm with ya!!! You definately know you're getting a great player who can contribute immedaitely without rolling the dice.

Any acquisition is a roll of the dice. Trade, FA, drafting.
Heck, getting the player to continue to produce at the same level in the same uniform is usually a trick enough.

Shawn Merriman ('roids? Injury), Cutler to CHI (too soon to tell), Haynesworth to WAS (not looking good), Portis for Bailey (rare win/win), Colvin to NE (big $, no return), Hershel for the Cowboys Offense, yadayada.

I would say the risk of signing Dumervil as a FA (and succeeding) is alot less risky than drafting a stud in the draft at the same position

Don't forget we will have Cody Brown and Will Davis for next season so if they develop we won't be so bad off or old at OLB after all.

They're no Dumervil or Suggs of course, at least not yet.

He will get the high RFA tender meaning we can just offer him a contract we dont think Denver will match and just loss are 1st and 3rd rounder. Not a bad price for a great pass rusher. But there are some problems with that. Denver might actually franchise him to up the compensation. Also offer him a deal that Denver will not match will be very hard in a uncapped year becuase poison pills wont work in an uncapped year.

So while just offering him a deal and seeing if Denver matches is the better option if you want to make 100% sure that he is yours you have to do a trade. Of which I am not sure Denver even wants Boldin or wants to git rid of a great pass rusher, only KC is stupid enough to trade one of those away.

But I like the idea of at least trying.
