Jeremy Lin is still only 33, if you want to think outside the box.
I had to look that up as I didn’t believe it.

8Maybe Willie Green would take him for some veteran leadership for that young, up and coming team!
Thank you Muggz. Mark Bryant was a journeyman power forward in his day. Ayton needed a real big man coach Mark Bryant who seems to be asleep during the games but maybe he does his work in practice only. Former Rocket Hakeem used to work wonders for big man on short term sessions but I'm sure there's some quality big man coachs out there. Ayton's high shooting percentage was cause for more touches for him than he got and less for the inconsistent Jae Crowder with his shoot you in a game and shoot you out of more games. Add a real Power forward, replace backup pg Payne & the scared inconsistent Shamet who had the great job of only just shooting & creating his own shots and he couldn't give that!Yeah we need to shoot the 3 better but we need an inside presence PERIOD.
The reason teams can defend us is because the know we are only shooting midrange or 3s. Cam Payne is our only real threat at the rim or penetration and that's very sad.
If Ayton stays he needs more touches, let him be who he can be, treat him like a first round pick and for the love of all that is holy GET A REAL BIGMAN COACH!
The reason DA looks lost sometimes is because if he shoots or drives and misses he's gonna hear about it more than any other player on the team. I'm positive Monte has him looking to pass out for a 3 before he does anything else, so when he gets the ball he's like ok passing mode instead of RIP THE EFING RIM OFF THE BACKBOARD AND WRAP IT AROUND LUKAS HEAD MODE! If DA had the go ahead his numbers would be closer or better than we expected.
We need to FIX this, add a serviceable PF so Crowder doesn't have to kill himself every night and a backup or frontup for CP3.
Mainstream yes & Ayton needed to practice catching the ball and keeping it up and out of reach of those guards from slapping it out of his hands and maybe they did practice that. LeBron uses stickum doesn't he?The Suns need more play makers and scorers. Also please order Ayton some stickum.
Ya, Jones is definitely not blowing up the team based upon remarks yesterday. Sounds like he is bringing the gang back but also looking for some tweeks to improve, and looking for the younger guys to improve and play better next year. This article goes through his main comments, not just about Ayton.
Phoenix Suns GM James Jones addresses all things Deandre Ayton
Suns GM James Jones addressed Deandre Ayton's season, Ayton's exchange with Monty Williams during Game 7 loss to Dallas and his future with the teamwww.azcentral.com
Only thing is could the Suns afford Schroder. Cam Payne is taking in $6.5 Mil and I like others wished Cam Payne gave more than he did on the court. If I were the Suns I would look at someone like Dennis Schroder.

The passive & controlled temperament type Monty seems to be ready to move on from Ayton but James Jones doesn't seems to. That 10-11 rebounds per game will be hard to replace that Ayton got and no one else seems to want to consistently grab rebounds but who knows somebody may fill the bill if Ayton is gone. And Ayton told Monty he can't pass the ball to himself. Ayton needed more touches and involvement. A 70% shooter is hard to find & pass to just ask Booker who did just that not pass to Ayton enough. A aggressive Ayton was needed too.
I was half joking with the stickum comment but Ayton loses a number of entry passes. Keeping the ball higher would definitely help.
I notice Devin Booker uses a lot of a powdery substance before he enters the game. I presume it's chalk but I'm not sure. If Ayton isn't doing it he might want to give it a try.
Also good players move a lot on offense to get position. He might want to do this more.
I'm for the Suns keeping Ayton unless they can improve the team. This seldom happens in sign and trades.
Something was going on with the Suns in games 6 and 7. It's hard to believe Ayton caused so much chaos.

He’s 7 feet tall and runs around as much as anybody in the NBA. Our offense isn’t a traditional post iso offense.
The center is used as a screen setter first in our offense. Free up our ball handlers let them penetrate make the defense choose then swing the ball for the best shot.
Now where we melted down was our ball handlers were horrible and turnover machines and when guys got open shots they were shooting bricks. Ayton was the only one who even bothered to show up game 6. He ain’t the cause of our problems
Who are the Suns ball handlers and play makers? Booker, Paul and Payne are about it.
Yeah that's the problem especially when two can't get the job done in the playoffs.
Everyone else is waiting for the mother hen to feed them.
You mean two guys who are going to make the All NBA team and the guy who was the best back up PG in the NBA all season long?
How many teams have two all NBA players in the back court?
I mean how much more talent do you want. Let’s be realistic here
Schroder would be such a upgrade over Cam Payne and he could fill the bill if CP3 got hurt again. Absolutely need a shot creator and back up point guard.I agree the Suns have to add a point guard capable of starting. It's become expected the Suns will lose Chris Paul sometime during the season or playoffs.
The Suns would likely have to make a move to afford Dennis Schroder but it doesn't necessarily have to be him.
The bottom line is the Suns need to add a shot creator or two before next season. It's easier said than done though.

Another note I will also hate to see Ayton go but I think he's gone from Phoenix via sign & trade. With the right team he'll flourish though and other teams know his ceiling this too bad Phoenix doesn't but maybe the fire couldn't be lite as much as Phoenix wanted & Monty is too soft of a coach in my opinion. You can be nice but you got to be tough when needed. What I don't want to see is Kat & Russell coming here for Ayton and possibly Cam or Bridges and throw in Dario. Well no so much on the Dario part.
The back up point guard that Suns need to pursue would have to understand he'll get Playing time as Chris Paul is old and may break down or get hurt and when CP3 is gone that starting point guard position could be his and the beat goes on! Oh where is Halliburton? Haha. And you are correct keep Cam Payne as the 3rd PGLet's add a shot creator and play maker sort of like Schroder and keep Payne too. The Suns need more of these players not less.
I don't want to see the Suns trade Ayton for filler. That's taking a step backward.

Cam Payne is a decent starter when Paul is out. He struggled to get back in his groove fully after his injury midseason but he's more than capable of filling in for Paul as a starter, we've seen that last season and in the WCF the previous year. Do we need another creator? Yes, and it's likely Shamet who will be replaced because Payne isn't an issue. Shamet couldn't create his own offense and as a SG who isn't a defensive specialist or a knock down shooter, that won't cut it.
This idea we need to upgrade PG behind Paul is a bit ridiculous. We won't find anyone better than Payne for what we have available.
Paul is going to be the Suns primary point guard next season unless they can somehow find a trade.
It opens the door wider if the Suns are not limited to adding a play making point guard. Just who, I'm not sure.
Regular season + playoffs Payne scored 680 points on 661 shots. That is unplayable type shooting.Cam Payne is a decent starter when Paul is out. Chris Paul may be the Suns primary point guard only one more season with the following season only partially guaranteed.
The Suns can use this as enticement, along with minutes, if they can find a point guard that is capable of starting behind Paul.
Another thing to think about, adding a shot creator / play maker doesn't necessarily have to be a point guard although depth is needed at the position.
Well sure, they can add another PG but since they have Paul and Payne under contract its highly unlikely they'll add anyone other than a 3rd string PG here there are no minutes to offer and that's not a sought after role for anyone other than guys like Elfrid Payton who are on the verge of being out of the league.
A wing who can create his own shot and back up Booker or Mikal is much more likely to be a target. Who? I don't know but there are players out there and there are more minutes available there than at PG.
Saying hey take little to no money and maybe you can be our starting PG in a couple of years isn’t going to entice anybody. That’s just real.
So Halibuton wouldn't start or get starter like minutes until he's in his year 3 if got drafted by Phoenix? And He be playng behind CP3 his first two years instead of getting that lead guard "carefree" development elsewhere. I didn't post that knowing what Hallibution would or wouldn't do if the Suns had drafted him. I was just merely speculating if we had drafted him. We didn't so there's no point here as I was kidding so relax. There's what's a total 96 playing minutes from the guard positions so IF Hallibution game was strong and IF the Suns had drafted him and IF he got the 20-25 minutes there still be plenty minutes for 3 guards of Booker, CP3, and Haliburton. We didn't draft Halibution and we draft Jalen Smith instead who we don't have either. It was just a thought. So Halibuton wouldn't start or get starter like minutes until he's in his year 3 if got drafted by Phoenix? And He be playng behind CP3 his fi
The Suns have the minutes for a third or fourth string point guard although it may not look like it on paper. The playoffs showed that.
Hopefully Gabriel Lundberg might be one of them and a player like Corey Joseph the other.
I mentioned the play maker could play another position but nothing affordable comes to mind. Bottom line, James Jones has to add players Monty will play.
rst two years instead of getting that lead guard development elsewhere. You think he be OK with that?
You think that with that lack of development he be ready in year 3 to continue the must win modes the Suns have been in for the past 2 years with a 16 year point God?
