Witchhunt ???

I'd pay to see him dropped into pit of attack dogs, if he made it out then I might consider he had paid his dues. Heck I might be willing to push him in myself.

He has certainly paid the penalty for his crimes. He is bankrupt, went to prison, and lost his reputation. Beyond that is a witchhunt.

Why is it racism?

Because I see no difference between in the cruelty between "hunting" for sport and "fighting" for sport. Except the people doing it.

In your opinion and legally yes.

However, when it comes to cruelty to dogs, I don't forget or forgive .... EVER

Will never understand that either

More .. No, as much yes at times and IMO it depends what type of animals we are talking about.

I make no attempt to justify that opinion, that's just the way I feel

I totally understand that opinion. I find it equally sickening that rich guys can shoot elephants with a machine gun with the click of a mouse in Texas. That's the hypocrisy here.

No, but if you dont think that anything bad that ever happens to someone of color is an act of racism that you yourself are racist scum.
Semi-OT: Does police brutality and systemic racism NOT fall under that?

Anyhoo, I find it disappointing that people have apathy to animals simply because they aren't human. What Vick did was cruel.

Sickening doesn't begin to describe how I feel about that, however dogs IMO are different

It's not about apathy. It is about not equating animals to humans. They aren't. I like dogs.

Why? Why should dogs aren't any different than elephants that are poached for example? Or bulls/matador in Spain?

This is a great discussion right now. You have 3 different elements going over their opinions. I like it :)

the only way prosecuting someone for organizing dog fighting could be racist is if you were to make the leap that brutally torturing and killing dogs and making them fight to the death for your entertainment and monetary gain is a characteristic trait of one race ....... it isn't

just like hunting isn't characteristic of just one race

Just venting on the absurdity of CS saying that Vick was punished for what he did because of racism.

I think Vick will be re-instated, and while he'll come at a discount because any team that signs him will be walking into a PR buzzsaw, his value to that team will be almost immeasurable if they use him correctly.

I think it would be fascinating to see him on the Dolphins. If teams thought their wildcat offense was difficult to defend when Pennington jumped out on the flank, imagine what it looks like with Vick.

(note, this is in no means implying that I think Vick should start at QB on most teams; I just think he could play 12 snaps a game, go into the wildcat on a handful of them and wreck havoc on the NFL)

But from a morale aspect is it not wrong to torture creatures with malicious intent? The Vick case was not an instance of killing for food, clothing, etc - but for his own pleasure. Whether his sentence was too harsh in comparison to other people-related crimes was strictly up to the judge. You'd have to question the Justice System about that, but please don't make this seem like it wasn't a big deal. Saying that "it's just a dog" emotes that it's some inanimate object incapable of feeling. Those weren't Beanie Babies he was putting on those rape stands and slamming on their head.

But I suppose that Judeo-Christian philosophy wins out again.

This is exactly what I was thinking. He might even be available at a MINIMUM deal.

I think I said, I make no effort to defend it. That's just the way it is for me.

That doesn't mean I'm ok with the rest, not at all just for me dogs are special. Brighteyes will confirm this.
