The Dolphins are the ultimate example of this scenario. I am not saying this out of hate or frustration but the Dolphins are thin or non existent at many positions

Well its a small comfort to see we're not alone. The NFL is a huge business and it just amazes me how dumb some of the people involved in it seem to be.

Unless somethng magical happens on draft day or before, where we pick up a left tackle you should be able to sleep well. Don't become hysterical, this issue is under control.

I think you have got it wrong.

I am not going into panic over this, not at all.

But you know, we really need an offensive tackle, so unless you have got insideinformation I am surprised you can be so sure that the issue is under control.

I choose to believe you are right though.

Perhaps you are too young to remember 10 years ago when - desperate to fill a void at corner back - we reached for Tommy Knight at #9. He was considered a CB who played too far off his man and timid in coverage. He performed as predicted. But we drafted him because we hadda, gotta better get a corner.

Just too young in this game, but I think I get your point, and it is not like I do not want to follow it. I just believe we need to fix the offensive line now. Try too anyway.

But, having said that, I too am uncertained on Levi Brown, and I too have a theory that Patrick Willis or LaRon Landry might contribute more to our plays than Levi Brown as a whole. They are just no offensive tackles and our running game is suffering badly due to the lack of elite offensive linemen.

I like your last sentence. This group is not a dumb. If we see it believe me they see it too. Don't you notice how quiet it is about the subject by the powers that be? They are not overloooking the problem. Davis was a total underperformer who did not deserve the astromical amount from us. Anyone who believes his performance was going to be better with a bigger check is naive. History proves that. He couldn't even get it done in his contract year!

Sit tight, keep your powder dry and see what happens.

On the other hand a lot of people seem to believe the rest of the offensive line's performance is going to improve simply because the Cardinals have a new coaching staff.

Considering how dumb the last two coaching staffs proved to be I'm going to wait at least 3 years before I give the new guys any credit at all. :D

Sure they do not overlook the problem. That just do not mean they can solve it.

This is a fun thread.

You just couldn't stand to see Mitch get some props on this board without pissing in his cheerios could you K-9. He gets a 24 hour scoop on the news media about a trade, and you have to resort to this??? You should be ashamed of yourself. It must be sad to need to go back 5 years in order to find something to chide Mitch on. Your arrogance and your contempt for anything Mitch posts here successfully, apparently has no limits. I find that truly disgusting.

Smushdown Levi Brown- I give him equal credit in our SB and playoff appearance- We finally seen what we are like without him- you know 17 sacks in 2 games bad!

He's a good man with great character- and was never the problem with the AZ Cardinals.

Probably the only thing you and I agree on. With Cooper next to him and being consistent Levi will flourish. Will he Adrian-Peterson-improve? Nobody is AP. That's a once a generation or two generation pick. I've bagged on AP before (citing playoff games, SB's) and used his injury as an excuse to say a lot of I-told-you-so's, but after what he did last year, and the fact that he said his goal this year is 2500 yards, after all that...<Crickets>

Sad really. But not totally unexpected.

Why do those two things have to be related? I didn't even think about that. I went looking for a thread on Adam Bergen because I didn't remember that guy even existed.

Yeah, Mitch was wrong on his scout of Levi Brown and Brian Leonard, but Mitch is wrong about all sorts of stuff. Mostly, I thought Southpaw being all in on Levi and Rugby talking about how he's terrified that we'd trade back and get stuck with Joe Staley instead of Brown was hilarious.

If I wanted to humiliate Mitch, I'd go back to those threads where he's sure that D'Anthony Batiste might be the answer at left tackle.

And all of your reasons is what makes you look like a douche. Shouldn't have bumped this. EVERYBODY is wrong at different times. Including you.

Catfish, does Mitch really need your constant defense? Let it go, dude. Go save the whales or something.

Everyone is wrong at some point, actually, we're wrong more often than not. That's the beauty of K9's bump, this is a fun thread to look back upon. Not to say "I told you so", but to say "Kripes, was I wrong!"

Everyone needs to slide the dimmer switch, and lighten up.

I never chimed in on this thread (thank God), but I remember after Thomas was selected at #3, having a sick feeling in my stomach about Levi. Then I remembered an interview with Graves on XTRA 910 the week prior indicating that he felt Brown was just as good as Thomas, which made me even more uneasy.

What's interesting is despite the fact that Levi didn't play at all last season due to injury, it was his most productive season. For the entirety of his career, he has been labeled as one of the worst tackles in the league and expendable, and rightfully so due to his struggles with speed pass rushers. When players like DJ Young and D'Anthony Batiste took over, we were surprised to find that there are worse tackles in the league than Levi.

I still don't think Levi is worth the money he has been paid throughout his career. He is awful in pass pro. But the organization still has faith in him, including the new coaching staff, so I'm curious to see how the new gambit of o-line coaches plan on making this guy productive and worth his #5 draft slot in 2007.

Well, Brian Leonard was good enough to absolutely shred the Cardinals D when Jackson was out and he started vs us as a rookie. I remember that performance quite well.

Chiming in.

IMO Brown is being put on noticed by BA when BA told the nation that Brown an elite left tackle. In other words Brown better step his game up or be will not be starting much longer.

I hope so. We'vegot a real coaching staff that puts a LOT of focun on this line, so I think we find out what he's capable of by the end of the year. For his contract today, he's worth the risk though IMO

equal credit? Compared to whom?

he's is absolutely a great man with great character. But he's not a great blocker. And that's what we really need

damn. That's something that never even crossed my mind. And even reading it just now I first thought "yeah right, let's not get carried away now". But after thinking about it for a couple minutes, you may very well be right. He is that good

he really is beyond incredible. just think about how AWFUL those Minny teams would have been with Tavaris Jackson/Ponder at QB and then realize they went to the playoffs with AP...pretty much as the only weapon on those teams.
