Meanwhile...Jay almost led his team back to an incredible come-back victory.

Story of his career...almost, almost got his team to the playoffs, almost threw a TD, almost didn't come across as a whiny b@tc#. Orton is showing in Denver what a guy with the right attitude and something called leadership can do.

I am not a fan of inserting the backup QB...especially after a team marches down and scores points. Happened the same way in the Jags game...they go down and score points as Leinart is warming up. He comes in, doesn't show well and the defense allows another score. 14 point swing.

Unless Kurt is hurt, I really don't want to see Matt in there, and I'm a "matt guy." Coming off the bench cold in a blowout really doesn't show me much, and doesn't keep the team focused, at all.

Bench my boy, unless he NEEDS to play.
Well said... I would like to see Matt in blowouts but not at the expense of comebacks. the two games we tried that seemed to send the wrong meesage to rest of the team. Keep the foot on the paddle.

Glad Warner came back in with another touchdown and saved Leinarts arse again.

The last time we played the bears Leinart was the qb.This time they got PUNKED by Warner & the CARDINALS,IN CHICAGO!!!:D(((5))) TOUCHDOWNS BABY!!!Could have been as many as he wanted if we did'nt start to try and run the clock out.Plus two BIGTIME drops by Hightower. Both for firstdowns and big yardage.

Warner will play again next year for sure.IF healthy.Ain't no way Whiz is gonna let him go.:DKurt will honor his contract too.Thats the kind of guy he is.Will Matt be here.Thats up to graves and the money.

Now we know. Matt is not Whis's choice for QB of the future. Kurt had five int's last week and continued to play. Matt has one and is yanked.
I feel Matt will Play out his contract and refuse to resign as long as Whis is the head coach. He'll be another Orton with a new team. Best we draft a QB with our first pick.......... and so it goes.

Matt should stick to what he does best, holding a clipboard, unless we're up by 50. :p

Another reason why Belichick and the Patriots are so successful. They keep their foot on your throat and continue to pound you when you're down. I think it was 52-0 when they finally took Brady out of the game a couple weeks ago against the Titans.

The Cards need that mentality.

Matt will never have to work a day in his life. He's made his fortune carrying a clipboard and drinking gator-ade on the sideline.

We'll see what Leinart can do next year playing full time when Warner retires after his 2nd Super Bowl victory.

Kurtis Eugene Warner will honor his two year contract he signed with the CARDINALS and I'm quite sure that Head Coach Whiz wants to see the same guy we saw today lighting up the skies again next season. Why would'nt he.

I then will root for Matt Leinart or whoever is here the following year if they are still here.

I want to see what the Hall OF Famer can do for us before he retires.

Its all gonna come down to money and negotiating all the bonus' that Matt is due.I hope Matt can be fair about it.I know Kurt will honor any agreement he ever signs. He loves the game too much not too.

Ugh. Just run the ball. That is more important to our long term success than Leinart mopping up with 10 minutes to go.

Check QB ratings; check latest stats. Sombody is in denial.

Just wanna say, though I agree with practically everything said about Matt v Cutler, don't use stats. Because Cutler has far more years and starter time then Matt has. That comparison is null and void for the better part of a debate. Unless you want to win that is. :D

When you put your second string QB in the game cold off the bench wouldn't it make sense to call a couple of running plays and maybe a short sideline pass or a swing pass to RB to get him warmed up and a establish his rhythm?

Instead they call a a 30 or so yard pass play down the middle of the field for him on what his second play of the game!!???? I don't think this is all on Matt.

Also all of you criticizing him for throwing the interception today were you also critical of him last year when he threw a TD pass against the Pats? To say he doesn't do well in mop-up duty is not entirely accurate.

I'm not being critical that's for sure, and damn well not calling him out on any TD passes against the Pats. I kinow where I'm being I supposedly critical is there isn't a need with that kind of score to take any chances on any throws or any plays. Just manage the game.

So, the question would be. Do you think he came off the bench cold and was trying to prove a point, or show he's got the skills, or that he is better then we thought, or that he should be the starter, or that he's capable of coming off the bench and winning it for us, or that we should have faith in him.. or, or, or..?

I'm only asking because you should state your viewpoint if your going to be critical of other ASFN members if your going to call them critical. How can anyone respond when you position isn't stated as well?

For what it's worth. I think Matt is for sure capable of doing mop up duty, and can most likely be a winning quarterback with a team that he is accustomed to and used to him behind center. However, coming out cold like he did and making a few of us sweat a possible repeat of our lost against the Chi-town Bears a couple years ago, how can you blame anyone for being a lil' bit anxious? I wasn't anxious myself. I figured Whis would put the QB back out he thought was warm and ready to close the game. If that was Warner so be it.

But.. hey.. for split second there, I to was cringing at what was or may happen to our team if the score would have continued it upwards trend in the Bears favor. So, yeah. I was in the whole "put Warner back in crowd because that's what we've been winning with". Call me paranoid or call me safe, but why not stick with wasn't broke?

Both passes Leinart threw were almost intercepted.Neither one was even a halfway good throw and he'd been throwing on the sideline to warm his arm up before he came in.

Its what backups do in the NFL and many succeed and get a chance to even move ahead of the starter due to what they can accomplish when they get in the game.So enough of the excuses.

Matts time will come in a couple years,or it won't.Too many people are Warner haters and just want what Matt can bring because of a very high draft pick used on him and his youth and the promise of him being the so called quarterback of the future. So far the Head coach has been going with what worked in San Francisco and letting the Hall OF Famer play and getting the backup ready by watching.I don't think we are there yet.

Well you made my point when you admitted he came out cold. So you do agree that they should have let him hand it off a couple of plays and called a short pass or two before asking him to throw it downfield 30 or so yards! Brilliant minds think alike!

Perhaps the question would be was the pass play that resulted in an interception called by Coaching staff or did Matt audible into it at the LOS?

Also I was not being critical of other ASFN members. I was simply pointing out that he threw a TD pass last year in mop-up duty. It's good to give both sides of a discussion as memories can be short.

It also happens quite frequently that the backup will spend time warming up on the sidelines and still come in and hand it off a few times and throw a few dink and dunk passes to get his rhythm going too. Heck that is routine for starters at the beginning of a game too. They let a QB establish his rhythm before asking him to open up and stretch the D.

The same thing happened in Jacksonville so I'm calling it a trend and not gonna make excuses for the kid.Too old and seen too many qb's that came out totally cold as a qb was knocked out on the field and the backup came out and lit the game up.If your as old as I am you've seen pretty much everything that can happen.

I don't think we have a qb competiton or controversy going on this season at all.I doubt we'll have one.I think the only thing that could cause Warner to lose his job is an injury. In that case Coach Whiz always says when the qb comes back he gets his job back. You can't lose your job to injury in Whiz' book.

Its really not important. We've got almost 2 years to worry about what to do next at qb.

QB's that come in totally cold and lit up the game are the exception not the rule.

Perhaps this is a trend with ML. I hope not. I am a Cardinal fan first and ML has lots of talent and potential. KW isn't gonna last forever. ML could be our future and in the past I have been too quick to write off players for the Cards only to be made a fool of a few plays or games later.

I said "Do you think he came off the bench cold" as in a question for you. I didn't admit something. But yeah, he did come off the bench cold. Of course that's easy to agree and admit to.
