So last game, Kollb plays a quarter and then some and skelton throws 3 passes. This game skelton gets a quarter with DJ young and then Kolb gets almost two entire quarters and more than double the throws.

Skelton: made a little lemonade from lemons but with what he was handed I thought he did average and dont think he could have done much better.

Kolb: his great drive had lots of luck, including the bomb to fitz that was thrown very short. Get the ball to fitz tho, credit for that. Getting fitz the ball is also what made a great TD play as the D went after fitz and left roberts open.

Everything else he did made me cringe, yell and sob. One good drive wont cut it, this guy is not good and he had FAR better protection than Skelton last night.

I cannot find any drive summarys except ones that show me the final drives but I would guess Kolb has led about double the drives skelton has, the pass attempts or plays do not reflect anything except Kolb has had more 3 and outs then Skelton. If anyone can dig this up I would greatly appreciate it.

With all this being said, the staff is either trying their hardest to prove kolb to be the guy or limiting skeltons reps knowing he is the starter. It has to be one of the two and I am leaning toward doing everything in their power to hand it to kolb.

Beyond that some summaries:
R.Williams is a stud and will be our every down back before long with beanie taking over for short yardage. If anything we should play RW to wear down the defense with his shiftyness and once the D is a little tired send in Beanie to smash them all over the field. Powell has almost earned the chance to take LSH's job and I never thought I would say that. Powell also looks better on KR than LSH looked all last year.

Sherman is a beast.

Fitz is fitz.

Floyd finally caught some balls but still looked average at bes,t he will take some time.

Roberts was solid in this game.

Heap is heap, a little frustrating. King is our best TE. Skelton (TE) looks good.

DJ young should never see the field again. The offensive line was HORRENDUS with skelton and kolbs first drive. Once young was removed I thought they were adequate at a minimum for the rest of his posessions (i didnt watch once lindley went in)

Our D looks fierce. They gave up some huge plays that were maddening but part of that was bad throws and QBs getting creamed by DJ young and putting the D behind the 8 ball. PP21 had a very poor game.

Fleming is a stud in the making. A dub looks as ferocious as ever. Good to see lenon in there making his presense felt. With as good as walker and bradley have looked, Lenon is still our best MLB. Dude is a BOSS.

I hate how every news station and fan was praising Kolb for his scramble deep throw to Fitz.

99/100 times that throw is a pick. I hated to see him even attempt that because it means he isnt learning. Kind of like his across the body, samescramble, throw/pick. Being lucky isnt being skillful.

I also noticed his new formula for "success". He gets the ball out as soon as possible, regardless of the defense. Thats why he threw that pick 6 to that LB, despite having a wide open TE right in the middle of the field. Probably didnt even see him. After the snap, the first guy he looks at, hes throwing it to.

Your all insane that was a fantastic throw. On the run squaring his shoulders a right handed QB throwing right that deep while scrambling left??. Landed right at Fitz chest. Great throw!

Throwing to Fitz is never a mistake. :D

Thanks to fitz stopping his route. it worked out but it was a wing and a prayer play.

I'll give it a good throw. 3 more yards down the field would have been a great throw and probably a homerun!!!

:D

The mere fact that he got the throw as fas as he did with those mechanics and body contorted that way makes it a great throw.

Few things that bothered me about Kolb and they were before the TD drive. First, he rolls right then completely misses a wide open TE and I do mean wide open by jumping and throwing into the ground. All he had to do is set his feet and just throw. To me, he's so afraid to get hit. Worse yet, he could have gained several yards just by running on that play. Then the very next play, he throw into quadruple coverage and threw it to the LB like he thought he was playing for the Titans. He shows both flashes of brilliance and flashes of stupidity.

I agree with your analysis completely BRR.

Skelton at this point just makes me cringe less. For that he should be the starter. Neither are good, but Kolb...ugh no words anymore.

I actually thought the long throw to Fitz was an awesome throw. Very difficult throw and he put it on a rope over 50 yards. No arc at all, just a total laser.

It was an outstanding throw no questions asked.

It blows my mind how our offense can be so inept with so many talented weapons like fitz, rw, beanie, sherman, king/housler

I hate russ grimm and I hate Kevin Kolb

That play (potential), plus word that Kolb is the better practice player, leads me to believe that Kolb will be the starter day 1, with Skelton stepping in to start due to injury by game 3.

Is it just me, or did Skelton take a page from the Leinart playbook and play "Captain Check-Down" last night in his limited opportunity?

I just want to win games, I don't care who the QB is.

Go Cards!!!

good throw for the situation but lucky and short by 10 yards. Ill take it but the words "outstanding" are over exagerated.

There is no way you can consider that a "lucky" throw. Talk about exaggeration. He was on the run under pressure. He recognized fits as open and squared off and threw in a manner that is hard to do and got a laser out to Fitz over all defenders. It was a great and in no way lucky as you state.

it was lucky because his "laser" was 10 yards short and thankfully fitz was open enough that stopping his route and coming back to the ball was possible.

Umm a WR is supposed to come back to a ball. Thats just good football. Running that direction throwing right handed and getting that ball as far as he did was amazing in itself. It was just a good throw. No two ways about it.

Cracks me up, all the people screaminig to throw it to Fitz or throw it deep, and when he does people are all, "meh, he could have put it over his back shoulder at least or hit him in stride--even if he was throwing on the run and throwing from an unnatural position. It was a good throw but it could have been better." Hilarious.

I've got no problem pointing out Kolb's suckage, but I've equally got no problem pointing out a good play. And throwing a pass like that 53 yards with no arc on it while on the run is pretty damn hard. If he puts any air under that thing it's INT'd.

When you have arguably the best WR in the league at going up and catching the ball that is the type of throw you have to make. I was yelling for more of this earlier as Fitz was getting himself into position for them.

Of course an OL that can that can block for a couple of seconds would have helped.

Fitz was actually working dudes over last night on just about every route. His curl routes were breaking defender ankles bad because they were worried about getting beat deep. He also seemed to be open on every square-in. And he couldn't be stopped deep because he was setting up the short game so well. He was a monster last night. I just wonder what his #'s would be if he was spotted and thrown to every time he was open.

All im saying is THAT play was a lucky play with a short pass that fitz nabbed up thanks to being WAY open. Not moaning about him needing to throw to fitz or about how it wasnt perfect, just denying other peoples opinion that it was some amazing throw.

Agreed, except for the wide brush you're painting with. I've read a lot more "great throw" comments than anything else. It was a good throw and it was the right throw to make.

Great vs good vs amazing vs lucky. Who cares. This thread is getting a little silly.

It was one of the bright spots in the game on offense and we feel the need to tear it apart? Warner and Fitz hooked up on many of these.
