They just said that on ESPNEWS.

Francis says he doesn't want to play for Orlando but they say it won't keep the deal from being completed.

Wow...

I have to admit I am a little jealous. Orlando just got taken to the cleaners.

Wow is right. Mobley sucks and Cato only shows up half the time.

Well, Houston just became the hot-discussion team of the summer.

Now if we don't get Kobe you can be guaranteed that we will get no respect in the media this summer.

ugh - I thought we were gonna get him - hope this doesn't pan out - but if it does - T-Mac and Yao - that's a tough combo - would have liked to see Mac and Amare - this offseasons' going to be out of control.

Is just does not make sense unless the Phoenix Suns and Indiana Pacers were actually offering much less than what was being reported. I do think the Orlando G. M. would be a moron to make this trade, but it does confirm one thing to me. People do not see Shawn Marion as a maximum player who is a worthy of being the centerpiece in a trade for a superstar. That said, I still think Orlando is making a major mistake.

We can always hope it is just T-Mac and Yao for just one season.

It just sucks when another team in our conference gets a superstar when it doesn't look like they could even offer close to what we could.

Now if we end up with Steve Nash and Mehmet Okur I want to kick Colangelo in his ass.

Could this be one of those trades where orlando is looking to do a salary dump again to "rebuild" for the future?

This truely hurts Yao at this point. The offense didn't go through him with Francis and the offense will go through him even less with McGrady. Ming is the most under utilized offensive threat in the game, period

I completely agree - but - maybe we weren't really in the running because we knew we were actually going to get another 6-7 swingman causing an uproar in LA - without losing anyone, making us instant contenders for the title! (I can dream can't I?)

again - I will vomit if this happens. And if they bring in Okur and start throwing around crap like "Championship experience" I will kick in whatever computer or TV screen where I see that phrase uttered.

But they see Steve Francis as worthy? A guy with a notoriously bad attitude, older than Marion, not capable of playing the point and under the same contract?

For all his faults, IMO Shawn Marion is a better player than Steve Francis.

If the GM of the Magic is basing his decisions on hype (which this would be), then he has no business being an executive in the NBA.

Wow. Houston has to be the luckiest team in the NBA.

This is the second time they've been carrying their dirty underwear in exactly the right kind of bag, and some idiot winds up mistaking it for their own bagful of money, leaving the cash in the Rockets' hands.

Plus, they put themselves into the exact same position as Golden State, where they were just good enough that they'd never get the #1 pick--then they got the #1 pick anyway, and the next great center fell into their lap.

Oh well, the Suns will catch up with the Rockets with their smarts, like they always do.

According to someone who is in Houston

I'm staying in Houston this summer and I just heard local radio (610) report that this is NOT a done deal yet.

The report says that the two teams are still trying to finalize a package of players. Meanwhile the Magic are getting a TON of calls from teams with new offers.

So maybe it's not final yet.

Btw it was Jim Gray who said that teams agreed on the trade but Howard was unprotected and the trade would hinge on wether Howard would be selected in the expansion draft.

Great metaphor, but what was the other case?

And by the way, for all of you out there convinced that I hate Marion and will mercilessly bash him until the end of time, I definitely think he's better than Francis.

So can a third team bribe Charlotte to draft Howard in order to kill the trade? :p

Come on I think we should give up Marion and JJ now. Not only would it get us McGrady probably it would also keep McGrady away from Houston.

OMG, he’s doing it again?!

Well, if Stevie wants to be remembered, it looks like he’s accomplishing it. “Francis” is going to become a permanent part of the NBA lexicon, meaning, “to throw a tantrum because somebody wants to pay you millions of dollars per year to play basketball.”
