To me, the defense is not the problem

When you hold a team to 10 points the whole game, its not the D's fault for the loss. Did they make some mistakes, yea, but they kept Gurly to 33 yards, had one miscommunication between PP and TM for the Quick TD. Not sure why everyone is calling for the D's head.

This loss again is on the offense. Once again, 0 points in the 1st quarter for the 4 straight game, several 3 and outs, no QB protection, horrible play calls, Palmer with some bad decision making, and so on. All the offense had to do was score one more TD in 2 quarters and they couldn't. The D did their job, and the offense laid another egg.

I have a special choice in the team that is giving us these fits. They are very special, and they hurt the team, over and over and over and over and over again.

I wonder if anyone knows who I'm thinking about.

The special teams are absolutely horrendous. Biggest blemish on Keim and BA is being asleep at the wheel on it yet again this season. Every point is so critical in parity-driven NFL and we leave way too many on the board with awful field position.

The D is terrible allowing the rams and their inept offense to put up 17 is like a 45 burger from the steelers or packers. They can't execute and constantly give up 3rd downs if you want to say that's not a problem, think back a few years when we were winning the Super Bowl only to have a very similar D disappear and give up the TD at the end and crush all our dreams!

Almost agree - if you are playing situational football, we have a problem on third downs and in the red zone. I think a lot of it is miscommunication in the secondary plus new players, plus, IMO, making schemes too complex by Bettcher.

We are still soft as a defense in the backfield - we will see if that improves - the potential is there.

Special teams are bad again.
Offense is bad right now, especially Palmer and Floyd. Palmer is showing absolutely no patience in taking his shots in the endzone and little awareness of who his receivers are in terms of taking said shots.

The INT Palmer threw was a horrible decision. If he took a second more to look around, Fitz was basically open near the goal line. I just don't understand why Palmer decides to choose one WR and try to force feed him the ball the whole game. Was its BA's decision to get the ball to JB to get him back in the groove? I honestly think Palmer is more of a puppet of BA. He isn't allowed to make his own decisions out there.

Palmer has gotten poor protection! Sorry I'm watching other qbs just stand in a nice pocket and deliver the football, you know why? Those teams realize their QB makes the offense and builds a good line! Our line stinks way to many guys getting their way to fast Palmer is getting abused surprised he made it to game 4 before injury, he has been taking some shots!

Correct Palmer is not calling the plays!

I know he isn't calling the plays, but I don't even think he is even able to do audibles or he is told to only go to one WR on each play, even if he is being triple covered.

The Rams and Case Keenum converted 43% of their 3rd downs today... that's Case Keenum on a day when Gurley was completely throttled!

Our line isn't terrible, the rams just have a great defense

Its a collective fault. a little bit of offense, a little bit of defense, and terrible non productive special teams. We are a 6-7 win football team.

That "great D" was ranked 23rd last year and gave up 32 last week to a weak Tampa team and 28 to a woeful Niners squad. They're mediocre at best.

To me, the offense has been extremely disappointing because it SHOULD be the best in the league. But, the line is struggling, and I watched a defense play us just like NE did. Keep the safeties deep at all costs. Dare the Cards to go on 10 to 15 play drives to score, by forcing us to dink it down the field. Then, if you make mistakes like we did today, two turnovers that cost us points, two penalties that set drives back and forced us to punt. Without the biscuit plays, we are very pedestrian on offense.

We've gotten used to winning close games over these last few years, but lack of a play here, and mistake there, and it cost us in these two losses at home.

I have no stats to back this up, but this season I feel that our third down defense is terrible. Make that TERRIBLE.
