If we are stuck at slot 3
with zero acceptable offers
and Anderson is off the board,
who do we target?
You take pennies on the dollar and your GM should be fired for being terrible at their job. Some might feel it is an overreaction but if you are dumb enough to paint yourself into that corner, you should be held accountable. That would be three Monti failures in his first four opportunities.

My guess is we take an unacceptable offer at that point. If you can get an extra third to move down four spots, my guess is Monti takes it.
He isn't that stupid. I think that is the minimum he accepts to move down one lot, let alone 4.

So you'd put that on Monti if Anderson gets drafted 2? Weird take.

Yes, because it is the GMs job to predict the market. If Monti feels there is a chance Anderson is going to be selected before three, he should make sure he isn't caught flat footed. That is on him.
What bothers me is how everybody just loves guacamole. Let's put it on this. Let's try it on that. Let's put our chips in it. I mean is it a condiment or a topping? A dip or an ingredient? Damn you Monti Ossenfort!!

Let's end this insanity. Just give the Colts our 3 for their 4 & 35 AND be done with it. Combine the now 4, 34, 35, with another high 2nd for Hopkins and we will have our cake (Anderson) and eat it too by improving 2 or 3 other important starting positions. That would be a good start and we would be half way there if we pick right.

Colts will get the QB at 4 because the Cards ain't taking one at 3. It benefits them NOTHING to give up more picks to move up one spot and get the guy they want just standing pat. At least, that's how I see it.

It protects against the Raiders jumping them. That is what it would all be about. Raiders would probably offer us more, but we would lose out on Anderson if we went past 4.

Obviously, the only reason Indy moves up to 3 is the fear that we will trade the pick to someone else. It is in the Cards interest to publicize their interest in moving down, whether they intend to move down or not. Indy has to be convinced that we will be moving the pick.

We can't trade before draft day. Any surprises can happen and the value can change depending on the first two picks.

Probably Gonzales but I wouldn't feel great about it. I'd be more than half tempted to take the gamble on Carter. Tyree would be a distant 3rd.
Like I said last week regarding Carter...send him to a shrink a few times--rinse/repeat get the okay from them and go for it. If "sane" he will be a better pro than Anderson.

Sure attack the poster instead of the post by the original post with the poster. Find me proof that I said anything whatsoever at any time that had anything to do with anything except the attack of the poster post. Nice straw man. I’m putting myself on ignore. Poster post. Poster McPosty face.

Yep. We absolutely needed a pass rusher. We absolutely needed a receiver. If we had just sat there and took the top pass rusher (what does that situation remind everyone of?) and then still taken Boldin in the 2nd (without trading back, even), we would've been golden.
But things area not always the same. We played a 4-3 back in those days and then IMO Suggs doesn't become HOF Suggs. He becomes a good DE until an couple or so years later when we moved to a 3-4. Just because he became a HOFer with Baltimore, doesn't mean he would have with the Cards. In fact with our luck he become Wadsworth Jr.
