A couple interesting tidbits from Wolf the other morning:

1) Cards FO & BA "really" like Mahomes. Not a smokescreen. They also like Trubisky, Watson, & Webb, just not as much as Mahomes.
.
I still smell trade-down, but not necessarily involving the Cards. Maybe a bit farfetched, but here's how it might work:

Let's say the Cards are interested in a non-QB (like Foster, Howard or C Davis) but are worried that he'll be gone before #13. Their objective: Get an extra QB drafted in the top 12. Strategy: Talk up that they're interested in ALL top 4 QB's to encourage a late drafting team to leapfrog the Cards to take one of those QB's. Result: The chance for the Cards to hopefully grab the guy they want from the group that would presumably include Foster, Howard &' C Davis

If the Cards hold true to their outward perception to the public and draft a QB at 13, I think it will be Mahomes or Watson but if they trade down... I think it is because they wanted Kizer all along and that is why they are staying away from him in the public eye

It would be interesting to go back 2,3,4,5 years on this board and see how we all felt about QB's heading into those drafts. How many times did each of us get behind a QB like we are this year with Watson, Kizer, Mahomes, Webb, etc...only to be disappointed?

I can't evaluate an NFL QB and admit that I wanted Connor Cook last year (he still has time :).

I wanted us to draft Dak & Jimmy G. Loved both of them at draft time. It's not every year there is a QB I like. This year it's Mahomes.

I think drafting a QB at #13 all boils down to the following:

If BA really loves the dude, we take him.

Otherwise forget it - we wait & consider a plethora of options which might include using one of our subsequent picks on a QB, trading down for an extra pick and using it to draft a QB, packaging 2+ picks to trade back up for a QB or getting lucky & having the right guy fall into our laps.

The unknown in all this is knowing how BA really feels.

The three options that might conceivably excite me would involve D Watson at #13, Webb at #45 or later or Dobbs on Day 3. But none of these guys gives me goose-bumps the way Roethliberger, Eli, Luck or Bradford did when they came out. (Watson comes close, but that's the only one).

Go back and re-read my posts and please tell me where I even insinuated that. I'll wait.

Based on your line of thinking, you want to draft a QB from a school that has history of producing successful QBs. Well no QB in this draft comes from a school with any history of successful QBs. Clemson, NC and Texas tech have never produced a quality starter. Notre Dame, outside of Montana, has at least produced Beuerline who had a couple of years of moderate success.
