Oh, I wasn't trying to change topic. I was just thinking about it over the weekend. Carry on...

If you put it in a new thread it wont change topic. :)

Anyone ever heard of a decent American Revolutionary War movie?

Only one I can think of is The Patriot but that was kind of mediocre.

Seems like a perfect idea for a film. Even just a miniseries (not named John Adams).

The history channel did a mini-series on the revolutionary war a couple of years ago. I know there’s a thread on here about it. I remember Donald watched it too. It was out-flippin-standing.

PBS made a mini-series about the war called "1776" I believe. I have the companion book which is magnificent.

* not to be confused with the musical, "1776" ;)

If you havent seen Band of Brother's you dont know what your missing. Just go ahead and buy the box set. Its about 49.00 now. You wont regret it.

     A very, very good set of DVD'S!!! David Schwimmer has a surprising role and is very good in it.

Yeah, I just ordered Band of Brothers on Blu-ray last night. Only $43. I can't wait to watch it again in HD! Some episodes were better than others, but overall the series is great!

My only "complaint" was that there were so many characters, it sometimes was a bit difficult to remember who was who and where....... Which just proves what a short attention span I .... I...... What were we talking about????

:D It wasn't the amount of characters I found confusing, it was that many of them looked identical. I often got them mixed up, they all looked freakin' alike.

I got this on Bluray when it was released when BB had it for $37.99. I really want to wait until I build my home theatre to watch this, but I'll probably watch it again in a few months.

We Were Soldiers

just watched this movie based on it being named in this thread. Heartbreaking, but a very well done movie. I noticed during the credits that the guy who Gibson played and the real reporter who ended up fighting and writing the book were the consultants for the film. Powerful and good movie.
