No because of the age and his contract status. if they were the same age yes, not because of anything with Kyler but because Rodgers is one of the 5 best QB's in history
5 years of Rodgers or the uncertainty of Kyler for the next 5 years? Just saying that you know what you are getting with Rodgers at this point. Kyler, not so much? Definitely a gamble.

It's always a small sample size problem, but let's look back at the past few seasons (teams in Bold are Super Bowl entrants, teams underlined are in the conference championship game):

2020
KC - (14-2 overall, 4-1 after 12/1)
BUF - (13-3, 5-0 after 12/1)

PIT - 12-4, 1-4 after 12/1
TEN - 11-5, 3-2 after 12/1
BAL - 11-5, 5-1 after 12/1
CLE - 11-5, 3-2 after 12/1
IND - 11-5, 4-1 after 12/31

GB - 13-3, 5-0 after 12/1)
NO - 12-4, 3-2 after 12/1
SEA - 12-4, 4-1 after 12/1
WAS - 7-9, 3-2 after 12/1
TB - 11-5, 4-0 after 12/1
LAR - 10-6, 3-2 after 12/1
CHI - 8-8, 3-2 after 12/1

2019
BAL - 14-2, 5-0 after 12/1
KC - 12-4, 5-0 after 12/1
NE - 12-4, 2-3 after 12/1
HOU - 10-6, 3-2 after 12/1
BUF - 10-6, 1-3 after 12/1
TEN - 9-7 - 3-2 after 12/1

SF - 13-3, 3-2 after 12/1
GB - 13-3, 5-0 after 12/1
NO - 13-3, 3-1 after 12/1
PHI - 9-7, 4-1 after 12/1
SEA - 11-5, 2-3 after 12/1
MIN - 10-6, 2-3 after 12/1
Awesome, thanks! So there seems to be a trend, but with SF and TEN 2 teams made it at least to a conference championship without dominating in december. Actually crazy when you look at that stats that we would still have a good chance to make the playoffs going 1-5 after 12/1...only the Steelers last year come close to that.

Rodgers is not gonna play 5 more years, he’s got lots of off field interests and is kind of an arrogant pain in the ass. And as someone already said he was in his 7th season before him he became great, it’s odd after a few bad games people are ready to give up on the BEST QB this team has ever drafted! Give him time shoot KK might not be the guy who makes him great. Rodgers has been thru a few coaches now…

Just to let you know, Rams fans are mocking this site due to this thread. Kyler is a short dude who can be wickedly accurate. He is probably your best QB since Warner. He is an absolute pain in the ass if he escapes contain and then throws downfield. He is tiny nd seems more vulnerable to injury and getting worn out by season’s end.

Just remember what you suffered over many wasted picks to get a QB and all the lost seasons necessary to pick high in the draft. So you really want to go through that again? If I was a Cards fan, I’d want the best Oline in the NFL to protect the little guy and maybe fire your GM. I’m a Rams fan since 1969 and so I am a hater,so take my bs with a grain of salt…I know I wouldn’t want to trade him as of now if I was a fan…
Just remember that the OP is a newbie troll and that we are not in agreement with them :)

I seriously doubt Rodgers will play 5 more years he has too many outside interests

I always wonder what happens if Kyler decides he's had enough and goes back to Baseball. I assume there is no compensation for the Cardinals.
Three+ years from last playing baseball? They aren’t going to pay him what he can earn in the NFL at this juncture. That ship has sailed (and was never bound to sail anyway).

Agree. He’s the best homegrown QB of the AZ era. Invest big time in the oline. See what he can if ever given a pristine pocket.

Where is the snippet where K1 was quoted as saying "it was a physical game - I wish we knew it was going to be."

OMG ... he was getting roasted for that, lol. Did he think they were gonna play softball?
He said that?

34-5 aggregate. Wow. That’s some telling data.

If I'm guaranteed to get 5 years of MVP A-Rodg, I do it in a heartbeat

Kent Somers summary is this: Kyler is not playing well and this is all on Kyler and not sure how much better Kyler is going to get from here.

If that’s his summary he’s clueless as some posters seem to be! We have lost two games in a row for the first time all season and both teams scored 30! I’ll say it again 30 points! When your D gets near zero pressure and allow opponents to stand back there forever our defense is the problem! I would be willing to bet when your opponent puts up 30 you lose 95% or more of the time! You CANNOT give up 30 in the NFL and expect to win!

I didn't listen to the whole thing so maybe I missed it but what I listened to Somers was basically asking as was the host, is KK qualified to teach someone how to be a winning QB when he was never a winner himself? KK had 4 losing seasons in 6 years in college, his best year was 8-5, his first year. I actually like Kliff he's shown a penchant for improving, he drives me nuts with all the 4th down plays and some other stuff but I think he's improved every year.

But as I think LIAC has said before he may be Mark Jackson waiting for us to hire Steve Kerr to get us over the hump.

I'd hope Kliff is Steve Kerr in training I'd prefer not to change coaches again you just never know but I guess we'll see.
I continue to say one thing I want to see is Kyler learn to play some under Center. I'm convinced part of the false starts thing is we're always in shotgun and that's clearly why we're having so many bad snaps or unexpected snaps the centers having to do all the shotgun snaps. and you can't play action nearly as well from the gun as from under C. But that of course goes back to Kliff too that's his system.

"Man, Aaron Glenn, he’s a great DC. They played hard today. They played hard. It was a physical game. I wish we knew it was going to be. Like I said, I don’t know what happened today. We just didn’t come ready to play," Murray said.

I just don't know how a team that's accomplished nothing, melted down in the second half of last season and coming off a bad loss to their rival on MNF doesn't come to play... in a game that can get them into the playoffs for the first time.

Or a coach that can see my QB is off today maybe I should run the ball and not throw it 50 times lol.

So far, nothing said or done the past two days leads me to believe that anyone has learned anything from the past two seasons' failures.

2019: 232 passing yards per game, 1.25 passing TD's per game, 87.4 Rating
2020: 248 passing yards per game, 1.625 passing TD's per game, 94.3 Rating
2021: 276 passing yards per game, 1.8 passing TD's per game, 102.3 Rating

In every measurable passing statistic, he is above 2020, not on par. Could/should any of it be higher? Maybe. He's missed open receivers...had TD's dropped...taken dumb sacks...Even with all of that, he's still having a better passing year in 2021 than 2020 and it's exponentially better than 2019. I agree with you though, this team would struggle to win 5 games without him. Also, I'll say again, it took AROD until year 7 (4th year starting) to actually become AROD. His stats the 1st 3 years starting are not far from Murray.
You and them damned facts.

Selling low is rarely a good idea. I’m not sure he’d bring 2 firsts based on recent showing. It’s also rarely a good idea to give up on a player with his raw talent unless you are certain he’s had the right coaching. There are legitimate, major concerns. Someone needs to get in this guy’s face and assess his response. A good judge of character should be able to sort Murray out.

Raise your hand if you want to go back to the old 5-11 Cardinals. When you never had to complain about getting beat by one of the 3 teams that was worse than us. Or have you already forgot what that was like.

This is the head scratcher to me. This past off season Keim waxed on and on about bringing in all of this "leadership", toughness and changing the culture, etc., etc. Shouldn't THAT have kept yesterday from happening? I don't see it helping down the stretch at all.

Kliff seems weak in the "leadership" department and Kyler also seems to lack that "it" the great ones have. Maybe it's Kliff's inexperience at this level and, in Kyler's case, youth. I don't know. It is a real puzzler to me, as you said Cheese, how they didn't come to play yesterday.

Oh well, on to the next debacle. I'll probably be sitting in chair, in a food coma, watching my wonderful kids and grandkids enjoy their Christmas. Might not even turn it on. Oh hell, I will, my boys and I will watch as the Colts run for about a thousand yards on the Cards defense.

Happy holidays everyone.
