I'd rather roll the dice with McLemore or Oladipo if one of them is available at #5. If not, I'm fine with trading down.

then they would be the single dumbest franchise in the history of the NBA. Sadly, neither isiah or sarver circa 2010...or hell...summer 2012 is captain of that ship, thus I don't see it happening.

LOL. Yeah, unless they have their eyes set solely on drafting Wiggins next year I can't believe they'd even briefly consider taking Beasley back. And even then it would be like deciding to commit suicide by beating yourself to death with a loaded gun. Surely they'd realize there is a less painful means to their goal.

The #Suns would trade Center Marcin Gortat and the 5th pick for the #Cavs 1st overall pick. The Suns would draft oladipo first overall.

Just informed by a source that the #Suns could trade the 5 pick to the Cavs in order to acquire the first overall pick.

The #1 isn't worth Gortat AND the #5. They would have to include at least the #19.

^ yah I don't understand that. Wy move up that high to get Oladipo? He very well could be there at 5, so giving up that much for him seems odd.

Gortat seems like a weird fit for Cleveland as well since they have Andy Varajo at the 5 and Tristan Thompson at the 4.

First of all, who is @SunsTalkRadio? I'm pretty active on twitter and I've never heard of the account. Secondly, we're not giving up Gortat to move up to the #1 in this draft. Especially when there's a chance Oladipo would be there at #5.

Here's another feed:

This one has almost 10,000 followers and their rumor is that if McLemore slips to us at #5, we might trade the pick to one of the teams that want him more. Doesn't make sense to me unless the reports of bad workouts wasn't a smokescreen.

He apparently got the "rumor" from ESPN. Whether that is true or not is obviously to be debated.

No, the way that tweet is written he is TELLING ESPN about the rumor. Why would he do that if he got it from there?

That makes zero sense too. Man I love the draft, but 99% of what you hear leading up to the actual selections is bull****.

Update on Minnesota trade buzz:

The Wolves continue to try to move up higher in the draft to land either Victor Oladipo or Ben McLemore. The latest rumbles have them reaching out to the Magic, Bobcats and Suns offering Derrick Williams and the No. 9 and No. 26 picks in return for Orlando's No. 2 pick, Charlotte's No. 4 pick or Phoenix's No. 5 pick.

So it would be the #9, #26 and Derrick Williams for Oladipo or McLemore.

That's not so bad I suppose, though Im not high on Williams. If teams ahead of 5 do anything weird, ie Charlotte taking Zeller, it could push someone down to 9 that the Suns would be happy with.

I wonder if they could select Oladipo or McLemore tentatively for Minny, but wait to see who's available at 9. If a guy the Suns want is there, then they do the trade.

I'm not sure of the exact rule. That means the Suns would want Oladipo or McLemore as well, but there might be a player at #9 who they like more? Curious about that. Doesn't seem to be anyone that fits the BPA mold more than those 2 guys for the Suns.

If they like Bazz more than McLemore or Oladipo, but are OK with those two, it would make sense. Draft the one you are OK with, and wait to see if Bazz is available at 9. That way you get who you want, and get another pick and a player in the process.

I am just really leery of these scenarios since the Warriors screwed us over Curry.

If you meant leery, I agree (I doubt you meant they make you tired). I wouldn't mind if the Suns did the trade without knowing who would fall to them. Time will tell, but nobody in this draft has me wanting one over another.

Ah, thank you. That's what I get for trying to carry on an actual conversation and typing at the same time. Fixed my original post.

Passing on Mac/Dipo for a bunch of mediocre/unproven talent would be a huge mistake. The only thing that matters in the NBA is stars, and not taking the only potential stars in a weak draft for more role player picks is about the worst thing you could do.

It's not like Oladipo and Mac (especially Oladipo) is a sure-thing potential star. I don't see how Oladipo has any more chance of being a star than CJ McCollum, for example. IMO, his ceiling is top 6th man.

I'm pretty happy no one seems to know what the Suns are doing. Smokescreen BS in every direction.

At this point, I think we can know with some certainty that Oladipo won't be there at 5. McLemore might be, primarily because he's seen as soft and controlled by nefarious people.

Nobody said they were, but both have the "chance" to get there. Let's just say you're more likely to get a star out of those two, than whatever is left at 9/26.

Does a guy like Mac have risks? Of course, or he wouldn't fall to 5, but we have to swing for the fences.

The Suns need the player that has the most potential of becoming a star.
