Well, it helped that when thier PG wanted out he didnt screw them with a list of only 3 teams, 2 of which having nothing to offer.

It seems to be the truth. I wanted the Suns to trade Dragic to Houston if the rumored trade was correct, Dragic for Donatas Motiejūnas and the Pelicans pick. The Suns would suddenly have become relevant.

Those two picks could be a big deal too.

How so? I don't think that either DMo or the Pelicans pick makes us relevant in a way that we aren't all ready.

Donatas Motiejūnas would have given the Suns a quality rotation big man who could play FC. Looking at the Suns roster this would have been huge. The Pelicans pick would have been gravy.

Now the Suns have just signed Earl Barron to a second ten day contract. The difference is very obvious. Wright is not doing much for the Suns.

I would rather have Donatas than Barron but I don't think we'd be much closer to relevant with him. I'm not an expert on the guy but I doubt a player with a sub 15 PER (15 being league average) is going to make all that much difference for us.

The JaVale McGee going to the Celtics deal has fallen a part because he wanted a player option for next season. I just don't see the huge risk for the Suns. I'd like for the Suns to give him a look because the Suns need to get bigger.

But even more than that, they need to get smarter, and McGee is a step in the wrong direction for that. Since the trade deadline, they've been playing something close to a traditional lineup almost all of the time. Their lack of front-court size and talent is a problem, but it's not the main thing holding them back.

Suns already have enough knuckleheads though.

The above is true. Still I'd like for the Suns to give him a test ride. I think a stronger rotation at center might help the Suns problems upfront. Of course, maybe I still frustrated the suns did not give Kanter a look. At some point in time the Suns need to start looking for centers and PFs to balance the roster.

I don't know if I'd go after him or not but hearing he's available and thinking about him in our locker room has me flashing back to that Wizards team he played on. IIRC, he was there when they had the Utah rapist, Swaggy P, Quick Draw McGilbert, Andray Blatche and McGee might have been the biggest head case of the group back then.

It appears the Warriors, Mavericks, Raptors, Spurs, Heat and Bulls have interest in McGee.

I'd knew you would come around.

Kidding aside, he's a risk I'd probably take if we were really in a playoff race. As it is, I doubt he'd stay with us and he'd probably just cost us any chance we had at resigning Wright. I don't know if that's a bad thing or not but I think I'd rather keep our options open. Anyway, I'd rather just play the young guys and use our 13th pick to select the greatest player of all time. Hopefully, he'll be a big guy.

I guess it's all in how one looks at it. I do worry about Wright re-signing with the Suns. Every time I close my eyes, I see him in a Dallas uniform. If the Suns thought McGee could play backup center for them in the future I would be for it. However, if the Suns believe that Wright will be their future backup center, then it would be a waste of time.

Since McGee prefers to sign either only for this season or in case of a longer deal with a player option there is absolutely no point for the Suns to sign him.
