Interesting, if you punch in the Cardinals trade down from last year, the numbers work almost perfectly

So people who move down and give up almost more to do it is right on? (a little biased I guess)

Maybe they need to tweak that again, or rename it recent trade value chart...or something.

Last years trade with the Saints was almost a wash. The Cardinals gave up 2332 points and the Saints 2345 points. Despite the negative reaction the media had to the trade it met the parameters of the chart. Actually, the Cardinals were a plus 13 in the trade.

I don't think that the chart is accurate. For instance if there are 3 top-notch draftees - then # 4 wouldn't be worth much.

If Ben R didn't come out this year, then 3, I believe, would be worth less than if he did, (thank God he did decide to come out), because he is almost a "can't miss pick."

Its for when the comp picks are given out march 30th then the draft field gets larger, so basicly that last column will be part of the 7th round.

that doesn't make much sense to me. comp picks are sprinkled throughout the draft and not just the 7th round. and i thought comp picks were not tradable.

The chart might be good in determining the "Value" of the draft slot. However, your guy must be there. That was the problem with the trade last year. The swaps might have worked out numerically but we shot ourselves in the foot by not accurately assessing the risk to do so.

Dont even think about what rounds a certian pick number will be in just think of it as the draft will have 265 picks once the comp picks are given out, so the chart represents each draft pick with a value.

Yes comp picks cant be traded but since know one knows where the comp picks will fall, a value is given for every single pick anyways to compensate for that uncertainty.

I am not sure whether this chart is accurate or not, but I do remember seeing Jimmy Johnson interview once where he said he almsot exclusivly uses this draft chart to figure out trades etc.

He said if it didnt equal out he just didnt do it. Regardless of how it "appeared" to people.

I guess that there has to be some grading scale to compare values in trades.

I want to think about this some more.
