Trail Blazers At Suns Game Thread

Well, Blazers are hitting everything. Particularly Aldridge and Blake who always seem to play very well against Suns. I don't think they could keep it like that the whole game.

As to Nash TOs, two of them were trying to lob the ball to Amare on lowpost. Blazers double teamed Amare or front him constantly. We show that we haven't worked too well on beating that. But when Amare got the ball, the results are most of the time very good. The very first 3 scores all resulted from him initiating the ball movement in the post, after several futile attempts and Blazers with 8:0 lead to start the game.

I'm still confident.

We lost this game. We lost the rhythm we had during our winning streak. Hopefully Amare woun't be in a Suns uniform after the all star break. Hopefully neither will Richardson but I doubt that though.

Amare 3pt play. Then Dragic defended well againt Rudy to follow it up with a 3pt play on Rudy. Then, Dudley 3. 2 min into the 4th, only 7 pt deficit.

Too little too late from the Suns. They just can't go about most of the game not giving a crap and pull out a win. They're not that good.

If the Suns don't make the playoffs, they have bad losses like this one to blame.

A setback. Coach reaction to Blazers' hot shooting was inadequate. Aldridge was on fire in the 1st half. You either double team or sub in a guy like Lou to harass him. But instead, we put in Frye then for more offense.

Also, Blake and Miller on guard positions killed us too. Yet, we didn't go to JRick post up. They double teamed Amare and we were not well prepared for better post defenses and how to pass the ball or receive the ball.

Well, Amare is probably gone. The rebuilding and sucking will start soon.

Good god its a game, glad none of you are in charge of making decisions for this team. Portland shot lights out even when heavily contested, they were embarrassed last night and came to play. The Suns had too much time off and could not shake the rust off in time to get the win it happens even to the best of teams.

Nash was embarrassingly bad for about 3 quarters today, totally outplayed by Steve Blake again (happened last year in Portland), and by the time he got things going it was too late.

Ahh well, on to the All Star break.

After this game, we can kiss Amare goodbye. Another stellar performance by him, along with the team winning, would have put a lot of pressure on the FO to keep him. With tonight's game, he's as good as gone. I like the Miami trade much more than the Philly one. O'neill, Beasley, first rounder = significant expiring contract, young talent, and draft pick, all the criteria we're looking for in a trade. Iggy and Dalembert, albatross contracts that don't expire, no draft picks. No thanks. Bring on the Miami trade. Everybody sorta wins in that one.

You're assuming there IS a good trade on the table from Philly and/or Miami.

Here's the logic: Amare plays poorly, we're going to trade him. Other teams see the same game we do. Who's to say Miami doesn't just go, "well, I saw that game against Portland, and I'm not so sure I want to give you Beasley for that guy anymore."

The reasons you WANT to trade Amare are the reasons other teams only offer garbage.

I thought Blake pretty much had open shots all night, but Aldridge was defended pretty closely. The thing with him is his length is killer when he's hitting jumpshots. That unorthodox shot of his gets off so high up it's impossible to guard it. Inconsistency is his biggest problem. But he didn't have that issue last night.

And don't get me started about Miller. The Blazers knew exactly what to do when Channing Frye is in the game. And Miller exploited it to the maximum.

I thought there were a lot of coaching problems in this game, and I still can't understand why Gentry refuses to play Robin more. And why did he put Lou in when the guy was injured? He also waited until there were only 6 minutes left in the 4th to put Steve back in. Why?

OK, im sick of hearing when we win, keep Amare. When we lose, trade Amare. Either you want him or you don't. Personally, I refuse to ride the ebbs and flows of this team. It is what it is. We just came off of a wicked 5 game winning streak with Amare playing like his life depended on it and 4 of those games on the road.

The reason this team lost is because they were playing a team coming off an embarassing loss to OKC and we had 6 days rest; enough time for rust to develop on the joints and too close to the All-Star break.

But the lead started ballooning again 3 minutes earlier. And Dragic looked awful in that time leading up to Nash being re-introduced.

That is just a minor quibble, I was more upset about leaving Channing Frye out there so long.
