I dig the Grand Canyon. If the tourists are not so bad, and, especially if the condors are flying around, it is beautiful.

I need to hike down into into it sometimes.

Remember, going down is much easier and quicker than going up. It's very easy to get in too deep.

Excellent point. I can make it to Phantom Ranch taking the Kaibab at a pretty leisurely pace in about 3-3.5 hours...getting up the Bright Angel takes about 7-8 hours, and is much more grueling with the switch backs.

If you are going to hike, make sure you have plenty of water, and snacks. (energy bars, dried fruit, nuts, jolly ranchers, my personal favorite)

Well, I'm already up here and just got back from scouting out the practice fields. Looks like the autograph area where the barricades are usually up has now been replaced by a 6 foot high fence that has a screen on it. So as far as autographs go, not sure what the plan is. The lower area is still the same.

BTW- The weather is AWESOME!

Regarding autographs: I really don't get it. Having something autographed has become so commonplace that there doesn't really seem to be any point to it.

This year, I am afraid that for the spectators, training camp is going to be a very different experience. Too bad. :(
