I was a transformer kid. But they were just another toy/TV show to me; and this is just another summer blockbuster to me.

Isnt every summer blockbuster a qualifier for that "title" brrn a lot of VERY good summer blockbusters over the years.

Sure--and I'm not saying Transformers is going to be a bad movie. But, I'm just not geeked up about it more than I am any other summer blockbuster along these lines (ie "Independence Day,"). I like summer blockbusters--they're usually big-budget, super-cool effects and mindless brain-candy.

The guy who did Star Scream's voice died in the early '90s. He was the original voice of Mr. Burns and Moe on the Simpsons but got sick and had to turn the roles over :(

That guy was a genius. Starscream and Cobra Commander--same voice yet it worked so well for each one.

i like the constructicons..

especially their combined form: devastator

I never understood how the Decepticons, who turned into things like fighter jets and tanks, could lose to the Autobots, who turned into trucks.

They were always out for energon cubes and didn't care about the bottom line

I just got back. I got to see it a day early. I am very impressed. I was fun and moved along great. I do not have a haiku to tell you how much I liked it.

One a side note, there was this crazy preview for a J.J. Abrams movie. It did not give the name, just a January 08 release date. It looked insane. If showed a going away party and then New York city was under attack. The Statue of Liberty head almost hit someone in it. I was not "I am Legend", but I saw the preview too and I am really excited about that movie. Anyone have any idea about the J.J. Abrams movie. IMDB.com did not have anything about it.

I went with my office to see this at lunch. The action was good but some of the humor they tried to add was a bit hokey.

I really liked this movie. It exceeded my expectations to be quite honest. The audience in the theater actually applauded when the movie ended(thats only happened in a few movies I've ever been to)--I never quite understood that, nobody who had anything to do with it is likely sitting in there, but oh well. Oh and they applauded not because the movie was over but because they enjoyed it...just in case someone wasn't following along :)

BTW that JJ Abrams trailer was the epitome of a "teaser", it looked awesome despite that you really don't see much. More of you guessing what is going on just out of the view of the characters.

I'm going to see this, hopefully this weekend. People were also clapping for Ratatouille last night...I don't get it either, but it was good. Shia LeBeouf has started a nice career for himself after Even Stevens.

just got back also.

overall, pretty damn good movie.

yeah, some of the comedy was a bit lame....but not a deal breaker. the main kid was annoyed the hell out of me in the begining with his freaking out....but once he settled down, he was pretty good. and if their was one huge flaw in the movie, it was John Turturro. he was flat out completely aweful. he left a bitter taste in my mouth, and may have knocked the movie down a half star in my book with his performance.

Rachel Taylor (austrailian chick) and Anthony Anderson (big black dude) were 2nd bit that could have been done away with earlier in the movie. granted she was a nice bit of eye candy, but the dude was just a loud annoyance that hurt my ears.

Got to see the movie today. I have to say I was pretty skeptical about this movie. I knew they were going to deviate from the 80's cartoon. I have to say I was a bit surprised. The movie was much better then I thought it was going to be. Basically this movie just simply kicked ass and was what a summer blockbuster should be.

I had a few minor gripes about the movie. Some of the secondary characters were never developed and unnecessary. Also, some of the actions sequences were shot so close you couldn't tell what was going on sometimes. My only other complaint was the design of some of the transformers made it difficult to identify who was who in some scenes. Again, these were more just minor annoyances.

The movie had kick ass action, some really funny moments, some likeable characters and they did a great job of making the transformers seem real versus CGI cartoons in a real setting. Also, there were several nods to the generation 1 fans through the film.

This is the first movie in a long time that I can remember people actually clapping after the movie was over. That doesn't happen that often. I also think that the character Optimus Prime had a good short monologue at the end (sort of like the cartoon) that sort of capped things off at the same time creating some nostalgia for transformer fans. I highly recommend seeing this if you have been itching for a summer blockbuster.

Good show. It got at few "that was awesome" out of me. My wife even liked it once I reminded her it is supposed to appeal to youngsters. :)

Thumbs up on the CGI. The Autobots looked great. Nothing made me think it looked really fake. Shia Laboof is good.
