Travis Henry has one year remaining on his contract. And that final year is VERY cap friendly. (i believe to be less than 500K. if you can believe that) He restructered his original contract a couple years back because he blew all of his original contract money....and the Bills front office took full advantage.
The Bills will wait until they get the best possible offer. If they don't get at least a 3rd rounder, they will keep him, and let him go as a FA the following year.
According to the NFLPA...Henry is due 1.25m in salary this year (2005). His salary last year was 750k. Henry signed a 1yr contract extension for the 2005 season in 2003, that included a signing bonus.
The Bills will trade him because A) He will probably hold out in 2005, B) They don't want the distraction, C) They already gambled and won with McGahee, D) They don't have alot of cap to play with.
I think a 3rd rounder is fair but I would rather trade a conditional pick in the 2006 draft...
