I know were looking for de/lb to help us in our defense but I think we are forgetting how good LaBoy is. He only played 13 games last year and was pretty hurt a lot of the time and had 31 tackles and 4 sack and a forced fumble. I really think we can count on him a lot next year for that position. I mean our leader in sacks was at 5 with bertrand. I think we all forgot how good LaBoy is good

He was healthy when he disappeared too(as his zero tackles in week 2 show or his 1 tackle in week 4 show). All his sacks last season came in 2 games(SF & Buf -- the #1 & #10 most sacked teams in the NFL).

I hope he improves a great deal in year 2 or isn't anything more than a situational player. I just hope the team doesn't count too heavily on him. I saw too much of a guy running all over the place and not making a play.

I think the thing with the cast was at the end of the season. He seemed to do pretty well till he pulled the groin against Dallas. Remember getting the penalty for offsides as he was trying to limp off the field? After that he didn't seem to have the burst he had before.

My thoughts exactly (possible nickname: Mr. Glass).

I agree with some that LaBoy has some promise but I'm unconvinced that he can be anything more than a situational pass rusher. He reminds me a scat back who's very effective with 5-10 touches a game but doesn't have the size or strength to handle being a workhorse back. Let LaBoy come in on pass downs and focus on getting after the QB and I think we'll get eights sacks a season or so, but there's a reason that he's only played more than 13 games in a season once (and never played 16).

Consider this:
In two games this season - 11 tackles, 4 sacks
In his other 14 games (including the playoffs) - 22 tackles, 0 sacks

His stregth is pass rushing, for sure.

I think we'll need to see what the new DC does with th defense to start nailing his coffin, though. If this were still Pendy's defense I'd say that what we need are situational "specialist" players because of the way he mixed up formations and personnel from play to play. With the new guy, who knows.

I still think LaBoy could e an important peice of the puzzle this year, though.

I think you are right on the money. Wasn't that how LaBoy was used in Tenn? Correct me if I'm wrong but I thought that what you suggest above was why the Cards brought him in. To rotate with Berry at the pass rushing outside position.

IMO LaBoy is too light at 250 to be an every down DE/OLB especially in a 3-4.
