What was the plotline?

The main plot line of this book, taking up nearly the entire book, is this: At the beginning, Sookie finds Eric running naked down the road. She helps him out because he's acting very strange. It turns out that he's lost his memory (a coven of witches has done it to him by spell), so he spends most of the book as a very sweet and innocent housemate to Sookie. She basically falls in love with him. Sookie and a bunch of her friends get together with a Wiccan group, reverse the spell, and get Eric back. He doesn't remember what happened.

Instead, Lafayette's part of a coven, Bill's going to become a king (WTF?), Eric's going to rebel against him (WTF?), the fairies tried to harness Sookie (WTF?), and Eric bought Sookie's house, and instead of being a sweet amnesiac, is going to be a rapist, blackmailing doucebag (WTF?)!

UGH!

yeah... this show has been downgraded for me from really fun to just stupid.

that was an awful season premiere. the flash forwarding a year thing is a tricky thing to pull off... some shows knock it out of the park, others fall flat on their faces... last night, True Blood face planted HARD...

Yeah, and it was COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY! They made the story line up out of thin air, the 'losing a year' thing. Unbelievable!

Good second episode I thought. I knew that Eric losing his memory was going to happen so I wasn't going to freak out that it didn't happen in the first episode.

I agree that the premier was a mess, but this second episode came back strong IMO, I'm still into the show.

The reason I was so upset was that it wasn't in the first episode, and their whole 'coming this season' preview collage ignored it completely.

One of the worst Season premieres ever. I have become a huge fan of the show and this season opener was about as "B" movie as it can get. It was HORRIBLE!!!!! It didn't even feel like True Blood. If this is where the show is going....I will be checking out.

Ok all I've got to say after tonights episode is WTF.

So did they just run out of ideas and now this show is just going to be a parody of itself?

That was by far the dumbest episode of this show I've ever seen, 100x worse than the season premier IMO. If that was the first episode of this show I'd ever seen I would have said it was moronic and never watched it again.

I'll hold out hope and give it one more episode but that didn't even feel like watching the same show, it was almost slapstick at times, jeez. CoincidentallyDavid Petrarca directed my least favorite episode of last season as well so hopefully he's finished directing this show.

I agree. Last night's show was a complete flatline. I wouldn't even watch, but my wife still likes the show, for some reason. I think she's in denial.

You guys are seeing what I am seeing then. The opener was really bad. I don't agree that last night episode was worse but WTF? What are they doing to this show?

They decided to go all kinds of weird and nonsensical directions instead of sticking to the goldmine of the books. They didn't have to 'follow' the books, as most shows won't, but at least use the great plots that they have instead of coming up with all kinds of asshattedness.

I must admit that this season is far better than last, however, it's quickly going down last season's path. Too many things going on:

Sam and Tommy and Tommy's ability to skin walk(change into another human)

The witch storyline

Sookie/Eric

Bill being king ruling with an iron hand.

Pam rotting.

Tara and her issues.

Jason being a ware panther.

Alcide/Debbie/and the new pack

Just too much to pack into 12 episodes.

It got off to a rough start but the last couple of episodes have been good.

I agree about the too much going on, and just think we haven't even gotten back into the "Faires" (God I hope they just decided to kill that stupid plotline)

I wish they would just get rid of Tara, she was annoying me by season 2 and I simply cant stand her anymore. Every single episode is exactly the same with her, she's pissed off and crying in every episode and does nothing. Seriously has she ever served a purpose in this show? Ok she has a little but they could give her just a little range.

Overall though they've pulled me back into this season though. The scene last night with them all binding themselves with silver and then Jessica getting out was a great cliffhanger. IMO

Yep. Same problem as with Heroes. The funny thing is that they've completely made a bunch of this crap up, but still feel the need to follow them completely. Ugh. Add this with the fact that everything has become shallow and cliched, and this is definitely my last season. Right now, it's kind of like a train wreck; I want to see how bad it gets.

I forgot to add the Jesus-Bruju/Lafayette-medium angle.

The last few episodes have felt more like True Blood but this show is like Fonzie being pulled behind a boat heading towards the jump.

They better get back on track and stay there quick or I am taking it off my DVR scheduler.

Got news for you. After this past week's episode, Fonzie has officially made the jump. Once again, like last season, there's waaaayyyy too much going on. They could have had a great season just on the witches vs. vamps alone but noooo, they have to throw in 8 seasons worth of side stories into this one season.

I agree, the only plotlines they needed this season are the Witches/Vamps, the Eric/Sookie thing and the Jessica/Jason plotline is compelling too.

I just dont understand why they feel the need to try to treat every single character like they are the central figure of the show and give them ALL their own plotline that has to play out over the course of the season. Its way too much.

I guess you could keep SOME of the stuff Sam is into too because you need something for him to do but I coulda done without ALL the farie stuff, Tara needs to go away, Andy is a moron and nobody cares that he's on V, did Bill really need to bang his great great granddaughter cuz we wasted 2 episodes on that? Lafayette has been spinning his wheels all season, the thing with the baby has been just stupid, Pam rotting has been totally pointless (she's not even gonna get to punish Tara for it!) Sams brother is useless and the warewolves are a complete waste of time too. We all know Alcides girlfriend is gonna try to kill Sookie and she'll obviously fail so whoooooo carrreeesssss. Seriously this whole season everything between Alcide and Debbie has just been leading to where Debbie goes crazy and tries to kill sookie AGAIN they never even attempted to convince us that it was gonna end up ok so why go there at all?

Remember how season 1 was a mystery? Those were the good old days.

Just like Sam, you coulda just basically given Sam this season off in that he's there, but he's off runnin with Shifters and hanging with his hot new girlfriend, but no there had to be issues with her, then with his brother and parents, then with the fire and his brother again, now back to the girl but her boyfriend is a pscho warewolf.

Ok Ture Blood rant over, but those who are fans get me, this show used to be cool.

It's getting worse Bert. The Lafayette/Baby thing added nothing...NOTHING. And it didn't make sense? What in the blue hell did it have to do with anything?

The last few episodes before this last one were actually getting things back on track but this one ... um yeah. They spent a a grand total of 10 mins on the series main plot and decided to turn this episode into some kind of tribute to campy 80s fantasy shows or something. Seriously, WTF?!

That episode made the season premiere good by comparison and thats saying something. That thing was a trainwreck

Yeah, the only reason I'm still watching this show is that I need to record it for my mom to watch. I'd have canceled HBO by now otherwise.

You could clearly see what they are trying to do. They are giving Lafayette a purpose on the show. He basically doesn't have one now. So they write in this half Ghost Whisperer and half Medium all rolled into one to give him purpose on the show. They are setting him up to seek out Ghosts and help them move on.

At least they have distanced themselves from the fairy crap train wreck but they follow it up with the ghost crap??? Seriously? What is next? Mummies? What about a Chupacabras?

Seriously, if I wanted to see a variety of monsters versus them sticking with the True Blood story...I would watch Supernatural. Not only do they do it better but they don't pretend to be a drama.

WTH are the writers thinking??
