i jus saw the finalised rosters for regular season and it says that alando tucker is our only player on the inactive list.....shouldnt this be Pike????

or am i overreacting? does this not mean anything and they will make tucker active again or what?

what is involved in making a player "active" or "inactive"

You can set your active roster on a game-to-game basis, up to an hour before tipoff. I would be surprised to see Tucker inactive on opening day. Where did you see that posted?

I imagine he'll be in the D-League.

What makes you say that? They have to have a certain numbers of players on the team at all times, and its not like their roster is just over flowing with extra players. Furthermore, he's a 1st round pick, its reasonable to assume he'll be given a chance.

The fact that he's a 1st round pick does not earn him any cred. with regard to playing over someone else, say Strawberry, who coach D'Antoni may say can fill more of a defined role at this point. Maybe it would on another team, but not this one. I don't see him getting a single minute of playing time behind Hill/Bell/Barbosa/Diaw.

It's not that difficult to activate a player. Did any of you expect coach to play him anyways?

He is totally not d-league worthy and any suggestion of such is short sighted.

The fact that he's a first round pick absolutely does mean something. It means the team is paying him guaranteed money, and obviously thought highly of him. They aren't going to send him to the D-league before giving him a chance in the NBA.

I believe in Coach's mind, DJ has earned his minutes based on what he's done in preseason with his defense and PG play. Tucker has a less defined role at this point. The D-League isn't a huge insult, it's a chance for a player to get playing time on a team when the minutes aren't there otherwise. It definitely wouldn't be the first time that has happened.

Tucker's contract is all of a guaranteed...less than $1mil dollars. Next year, it's $1mil while DJ's is 710K. I doubt that's making the difference in D'Antoni's mind, especially when you consider the team options in there.

I'd love to see him get time too, but I just don't see it happening.

If anyone could whip big baby into shape it would have been nash and stat. He's got great hands and amazing footwork, if he was 75 pounds lighter he would be amazing.

He has looked awesome in the preseason. Fantastic post skills.

If I were Tucker, I'd prefer to go to D-league with loaded minutes against players one-level better the college players, instead of sitting on the bench with zero playing in the NBA.

Yes, it should be Pike on the inactive roster but that is not always how it works in the real world. IMO, the next candidate would be Banks but I'm sure the Suns still have a vision of somehow moving him. Marks would be the third candidate if the Suns didn't lack depth in the front court. I think Tucker should be on the active roster although the politics of the situation does not seemingly play out that way.

Didn't Jordan Farmar play for the D-league last season? I actually think that this is a good thing.

Agreed, if there is an injury to Hill/Bell/Barbosa he would be ready to go. It wouldn't hurt to let Alando Tucker to work on his game some more.

It may have to do a bit with Pike. He's had a long career and undoubtedly has some pride. It may not mean much, but it doesn't cost D'Antoni to show some sentiment.
